The Audi Thread

You have to admit - R340K for a used S8 + R100K for the exhaust system and you have a saloon that can keep up AND sounds like a lambo = BARGAIN!

Aye. But I also have to admit, I'd be happy with the S8 as is. I would just hate to see what it could cost if it needs anything close to a major service....

Guys a motoring but non-Audi question. I was reading a review of the Lexus IS 250 Auto on Carmag and came across this:

Interestingly, this gearbox doesn’t automatically change up when the rev limit is reached, rather leaving the driver to make the decision. That’s how we like it in a sports saloon…
I thought the whole point of getting an automatic was to avoid manually changing gears? :wtf:

Probably in manual mode. DSG etc, will change gears when you hit the limit in manual mode.

You are correct Quantum, thanks. I re-read in context and it makes sense.

Power is sent to the rear wheels via a six-speed automatic transmission that also offers gear shifting via large, steering-mounted paddles. Interestingly, this gearbox doesn’t automatically change up when the rev limit is reached, rather leaving the driver to make the decision. That’s how we like it in a sports saloon…

It's a private seller. If anyone ends up looking at it, do the usual checks :)

Well it's gone now, but on the full non-mobile site it was listed as a trade seller, a bit dodge though since there was no company name and a cellphone number. But still, almost 50% off list price ...
