Most underrated striker in SA. I saw him finish off a move against Chiefs recently. Very impressive.!!
 
Lehlohonolo Majoro has been called up in place of Eleazor Rodgers, who was withdrawn by Santos. Moeneeb Josephs has retired from international football, no replacement has been called.
 
It's been a bad start all around. No one showed up to watch this match, I'm betting under 5 000 people, and most of them are Ethiopean. A defensive stuff up between Tshabalala and Masilela caused SA to conceed. Masilela was then taken off injured.

At half time SA are 1-0 down, and things are looking terrible.
 
People in that area don't go to matches. They should have gone to Polokwane or Durban. I guess that sangoma payment wasn't enough then.

Mphela got a second half goal to finish 1 all. Not good at all, but at least we managed to fight back in the 2nd half. Classic SA football, lots of possesion, few shots on goal. We are 3rd in our group, behind Central Africa Rpublic on 3 points and Ethiopia.

Our next match is away to Botwansa on Saturday.
 
With the resources at our disposal we ought to be walking such groups but we are not. The coach has to go. I'd prefer safa disbanded because it is their lack of leadership, vision and an entrenched culture of cronyism that's allowed the rot to get this far. Development has been stagnant more than a decade.

The school of excellence is dysfunctional because it is being used to employ friends, families and cronies who can't be accommodated at safa.

I love the idea of disbanding SAFA and staring over but it won't happen. Plus the PSL is too powerful already and not doing much better.

I always wonder though, how much would it help if the ( trying to be neutral here) 'richer' schools took football seriously? They have great facilities, but most couldn't give a **** about football.

Soccer is still seen as the poor cousin in school sports in the affluent schools. And I think soccer I getting more cash than all the other sports now. The problem is that even advertisers still don't see the marketing potential. Rugby players all drive sponsored cars and what not while only a few of our top footballers get those kind of deals.
 
why do we still have a thread for a team that cannot even beat Kenya of all teams.
 
When trying to insult, at least get the details correct. We drew to Ethiopia. We beat Kenya 2-0 last year.

Banyana drew 1-1 with Nigeria in their friendly last night.
Amajita (u20) came 3rd in the 8 nation tournement in Cape Town. In group play they lost 3-1 to Argentina, then beat Ghana 2-0 and Nigeria 1-0. they drew 1-1 with Brazil in the semis, but lost 5-4 in the penalty shoot out. They drew 1-1 with Japan, but won 7-6 on penalties.

Pitso know's his time is running out, even a win in Botswana may not be enough. However, where I agree with him is that we don't have great footballing depth. He has some favourites, but overall, he is picking close to the best team.

I hope that he gets fired, but SA football needs an overhaul.

While I will continue to give SAFA stick for not doing enough for player development, rich schools are better placed to produced players. Look at the players playing pro cricket and rugby, even the national netball and hockey squads, most of those players come from rich schools. Pupils at those schools would be much better trained than kids in a rural school with a dustbowl for a field. Trying not to be overlly emotional, but it is a disgrace that some schools still don't allow football.

Let's be honest here, the only reason Gavin or Gordon haven't got the job is that they are white. Sad but true. Maybe SAFA will finally give Gordon a chance now that he has spent another season proving what a good coach he is.

You can get whoever and they will fail as well. South African football is dying.
When you have a 35 year old topping the scoring charts and winning all awards in the league you know you have a serious problem.
Where are the young players that could help to turn this around in the near future? The football future looks bleak indeed.

Not true. Pitso is one of the few black coaches Bafana has had. We must look at the standard of the league before we can even look to appoint a local coach. The PSL is sub-par. And it's not producing good players.

Of local coaches, we have had Clive Barker, Mashaba, Jomo & Pitso. He is one of the majority of local black coaches we have had. Jomo was appointed to shut him up (he actually did well at that nations cup coming up runners up), Mashaba for being malleable, Pitso the same. Clive is the lucky one in that he was appointed on merit and he had a good team to work with. SAFA appointed coaches who had a vision for the development of the entire football spectrum, but fired them because such intelligence made their head hurt.

They have now been leaping from disaster to another and only appointing coaches as band aids for the baying masses.
