Swallows may be an old age home, but Gordon has shown that he can work with limited resources. That being said, Gavin has worked with similair constraints.

At this point we will take any positive results. We will worry about playing entertaining football once we have turned our fortunes around.
 
There is this talk that we simply don't have the local talent for Bafana to do well, I ask what happened to the team that did so well at the Confed Cup, the team that played so well at the world cup (minus the Uruguay game)? We have failed to build on those promising performances and someone has to answer for it, the players, the coach, SAFA.

While the team has played well at times, we don't have a production line of talent. Very few of our national players played for youth teams.

SA doesn't have a big culture of clubs developing players, most sports rely in schools. Football though is shunned by most rich schhols. If schhols like SACS, PBHS, Maritzburg, KES were to spend some of their money on football, they would develop better equiped players than township schools.

Some positive signs; Gordon has left the Swallows camp in China and is flying back to SA today.

Moroka Swallows coach Gordon Igesund has cut short his trip in China to fly back to South Africa – where he is likely to tie up a deal to become the new Bafana Bafana coach.

Igesund and the Dube Birds are currently involved in a four-team friendly tournament in China, though it seems he could well have coached the team for the last time following a spectacular 24 hours in South African football.

Pitso Mosimane’s dismissal as national coach was announced in the early hours of this morning following more than 12 hours of discussion between him and Safa.

He was eventually relieved of his duties after a dreadful 1-1 draw against Ethiopia in South Africa’s opening 2014 World Cup qualifying tie; a run of nine competitive matches without a win.

KickOff.com broke news yesterday that Safa had already penned an offer for Igesund, and after much trying we got hold of him at the airport in China.

“I can’t say much; we are boarding in two minutes, but yes, I am flying back to South Africa now,” he told KickOff.com.

Igesund has made no secret of his desire to coach the national team, having on two occasions been snubbed when the job looked like it was his.

Several attempts to get hold of Swallows boss Leon Prins to get his view on the job offer for Igesund, who led the team to a second-placed finish last season, proved futile.

After a year or so Gordon might leave because SAFA is useless. It really doen't matter wo the coach is, as long as we have the same SAFA, we are going backwards.

After Parreira (sp) & his fellow Brazilian it would have been hard to negotiate their way to a lower salary. Accusations of racism & what not were already surfacing against SAFA in how they pay local coaches.

It's not a lot by international standards. I could see Stuart Baxter getting that if not more at Chiefs. Same with Sundowns and Neeskens. And in European leagues this is a tiny amount.
 
Ja but pitso had no pedigree like that stupid brazilian. Nothing to justify that money.

If we are willing pay those enormous sums to foreign coaches then its only fair that the orders of magnitude paid to the locals be the same. What is truly stupid is for SAFA to tie themselves up into a contract worth so much without an easy escape clause. Total lack of foresight, no wonder there's no vision in that organisation for our football.
 
If a top Brazillian coach can't do anything with these buffoons who can?
The youngsters need to be taught discipline and self management for us to get anywhere.
 
Pitso is threatening to take Suffer to the CCMA. You gotta give give it to the man, he doesn't know when to give it a rest. If it was any other coach with a shred of dignity, he would resigned after that AFCON debacle.

Well within his rights to seek compensation for early termination. That's why firing a coach is so expensive.

Out of principle he should just let it go. It's not like he deserves anything. If I was him I would walk away quietly. Just google the world's dumbest coach and Pitso's name might show up a few times :D

Sure he was dumb, but the world works on laws, and his contract is valid until 2014. SAFA will need to pay him a settlement for early termination. They were rather dumb not to try including a get out clause for failing to qualify for 2012.
