The Bafana Bafana Thread

Changes has since been made to the squad due to injuries, Sibusiso Vikajazi was replaced by Gift Links, Thamsanqa Mkhize replaces Thapelo More a and Thembinkosi Lorch replaces Vincent Pule.
 
Total Bafana blackout on SABC TV, radio stations
The SA Football Association (Safa) has confirmed it has cut ties with national broadcaster SABC, resulting in a blackout of all Bafana Bafana and other national team matches.
The SABC will not televise Bafana's 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against the Seychelles at FNB Stadium tomorrow. The match will also not be broadcast on radio but the SABC insisted it will carry Tuesday's return leg as Safa doesn't own the rights.

It is just like in the ANC, flawed people will keep on being voted into power. Looks like they have a deal with Khoza, "Keep your PSL, I will keep my SAFA"

Problem is, that if we keep these okes in charge, Bafana and our football will continue to go down the drain. They have their own agendas, they are old and still use their old ways to run football in this country. SAFA needs a fresh approach to take the football forward.

The future is not bright !!! We need to have proper youth structures and start training them at ages 5/6 , not at 16 or 17.That requires vision and foresight which is lacking.

Sorry pal, disagree a bit with this. I agree on the proper youth structures that need to be in place, but not the training bit at 5/6 years old.

At that age, most kids just want to play football, they are not interested in passing and moving, various formations etc

It’s at age 12 onwards, where we need to focus on, because the kids understand a bit more on what is needed of them. I’m not a fan of trying to instill things in kids at age 5, which in my opinion is way to young. My belief is always, that kids under 10 years old, that they are taught the basics, and let them enjoy a sport.

The famed Ajax youth academy starts off with 7-year old prospects that have already been scouted. The Dutch also have a U-9 national league.

English club academies start off with 9-year olds. Germany's system starts of with 12-year olds.

Those are very unique situations, as those are professional academies, who put millions in. They also scout for the very best, in most cases it’s foreign kids. Our pro clubs hardly have a proper youth academy in place, let alone a proper senior team. Our kids are also very ill disciplined sad to say, and most are no longer interested in the game. Let me be frank and honest here, and coming from a playing background through the juniors and seniors, today, it’s not what it use to be.

If you look today, most amateur clubs struggle to field 1 team per age group. When I played, we could field 3 or 4 teams per age group. The problem is not at age 5 or 6, the problem is that we cannot maintain the interest once they reach the age of 12 onwards. Thus the focus in this country is different to that of kids overseas, because here we have other problems to see to first.

I'm aware that few of our local clubs would be able to invest in youth academies, just indicating that you don't have to wait for a child to hit his/her teens before you start developing their tactical awareness or instilling a sense/style of play.

Major shortfall were SAFA is concerned is they are not actually capable of ensuring or guiding the development of the game at youth level. Its as if they suddenly appear when the kids are 17/18-years old and now they try and develop them. That's too late.
