They may as well give David Notoane the head coach job after the Olympics. He at least knows how to qualify for a major tournament and will have a good idea of the strengths of the youth players.
We need to now start focusing on the youth and being more competitive in Africa.
We are not World Cup worthy nor are we near the quality of the top African sides. The PSL clubs also need to start hiring more coaches from the top African countries when they can't find a local coach rather than opt for some unknown European guy who does not have an impressive record.
We don't train our players properly from u7, that's why we don't have enough 17-19 year olds pushing for PSL places. That's why we don't have enough players moving onto Europe, that's why we don't have the players to win matches.
Disclaimer I know very little about soccer but I can't understand why we so poor in soccer.
Surely we have more soccer players and far better facilities than most other African counties. What is the root cause?
Shouldn't be too surprising - it mirrors the general state of the game in this country. There's been progressively more money with a corresponding decline in quality. SAFA have had the same dinosaurs at the helm since inception. They just recycle them. As unprofessional as ever. And the premier league is run by the same bunch.

Many African national teams use lots of European trained players. While SA has better facilities than Ghana or Senegal, many of those players were raised and trained in Europe.
Well it seems then than a new coach will not make a difference or maybe they should just get Rassie or Jake for a while.
At this level coaching and leadership makes all the difference. It is a team sport afterall. And at the top level the players are all fairly matched in skill. The coach can make a difference, you obviously have to have someone who knows strategy etc. It will make a difference against evenly matches and lower-ranked sides to us.
But you put them against a top nation and no coach will make a difference.
You don't really follow any local football do you? Because there are no racial issues and politics in our local football, it's the beautiful game and no history of exclusion and self styled gatekeepers in football, no political intervention is required. At this level coaching and leadership makes all the difference. Psychology and motivation is probably the biggest factors.
I haven't watched banana in a while. But the fact that they don't even seem to be trying(have no killer instinct) was evident.
If they get that right and play with some passion more people will support them again and they'll do better.
Getting rid of racial nonsense and politics would also help.

None of our national coaches would coach a 3 division English team.
Benni might take it. He's coached in Portugal and don't think he was too successful. Safa can't afford Pitso any longer. They also had huge contractual issues with him last time plus they paid him too much and paid even more to be rid of him. Mainly because of their own ineptitude.Benni and Pitso may as well reject it, especially if they want to coach in Europe.
If Pitso makes a success of his time in Al Ahly, he might attract offers from the US or Europe.
Benni will almost definitely get offers from Europe if he carries on at his current rate with AmaZulu and the fact that he was a successful player in Europe also helps.
History suggests that whoever takes the job will end up leaving on a bad note and if one of them takes it, they risk having a huge blemish on their CV which might make it less likely for foreign teams to consider them.
The chances are high that even if they don't take it now, they will get a chance in the near future. Bafana Bafana coaches hardly last more than three years.
