The Bafana Bafana Thread

SAFA just recycle the same coaches...

Not really. The last guy I can remember who led the national team over two stints was Carlos Alberto Perreira.

Our women's team is actually really good, I mean they qualified for the World Cup without any professional league. Imagine if we gave them the same resources that we give the men?

Looks likely that Benni is our next coach.

Sadly, he does not seem to realize what he is doing. He deserved much better than that. He should have opted for this job at a later stage of his career if he wanted it because chances are it will be available again soon.

It can't hurt him. It's unlikely anyone can succeed at the job given that the problem is structural issues with safa and the local game. So, he takes the job, gets to earn a few mil gets fired and goes back to coaching in the league.

At his current rate with AmaZulu, I think he can get to Europe. Chances are that by taking this job, he will be fired and have to start from scratch as Pitso did when his reputation took a knock after failing with Bafana.

McCarthy loses a year or two of personal development by taking this job.

I would actually have preferred another African like Kaitano Tembo. I was impressed by how Tembo did well with Grobler and Gabuza when most clubs don't trust South African strikers.

SAFA found the money to buy him out of his AmaZulu contract?

Oh, poor Benni!

Bad move this one. He should've stayed at Amazulu. He has abilities as a coach but this move is suicidal.

I wish him the best of luck, maybe he will excel, though, I doubt it with the type of leadership at SAFA and the PSL, coupled with our poor developmental structures.

SAFA is a deeply political environment and this is the reason why Lucas Radebe has never really been honored the way he should have, they know he will expose the BS that goes on.

I'm not even sure why Lucas has stayed here, Leeds would have gladly had him as a technical advisor.

I really like Benni and I think he is destined to be a great coach, but what he is getting himself into is a very bad situation.

Until the day Danny Jordan and his cronies resign (tough luck of that happening), the national football structures will keep on decaying.

A question I have always also had about Lucas, is why didn't he start his coaching career at Leeds.

To be honest even with SAFA and their problems, the previous coach was dodgy, he had no record other than being an assistant in a Bafana team that had a dismal record.

This speaks to how SAFA does things. How do you play around with national pride like this? Ntseki was never supposed to be Bafana coach.

SAFA is rotten to the core.

SAFA being SAFA.

Fire a coach due to poor results, but give him a job as an assistant because you can't afford to buy his contract out!

I think they have messed up again, it's going to take this coach forever to get accustomed to things, at least he has had some success as a coach.

Ntseki is still clueless even as an assistant and is just going to be a hindrance.

An accomplished assistant, but the fact remains, both are not familiar with the local game so they won't hit the ground running, SAFA won't be in the mood to spend too much on the second assistant as the Macedonian guy probably did not come cheap, so we are going to get a mediocre local assistant who will be very useless.

This might be the worst first half I’ve ever seen from the national team, and that’s saying something.
