We can't throw in the towel so soon. We are only 2 points behind the leaders of our group and there is a lot to play for still.
We can still get to the play-offs if we win against Ethiopia away.

We shouldn't throw in the towel, but we need a long term strategy. While I hope we get to Brazil, that shouldn't distract from the fact that we need to fix football in this country!

I don't we deserve to be in Brazil. I don't want BB to qualify. There I said. Maybe it will sent a message that the whole lot are a bunch of waste.

We are probably in the easiest group we have ever had.

Not qualifying will not teach SAFA to fix the problem. We failed to qualify for AFCON 2010 and 2012, and still nothing. We failed to qualify for WC2006, nothing. We went out in the first round in 2010, nothing. We didn't score at AFCON 2006, nothing.

Not qualifying in 2014 won't magically kickstart SAFA.

There is always hope. No matter how bad the team is now, 10 years from now we could have a great system. While it might seem like a long time, in sports development terms it's not long at all.

That's why I believe you should focus on building the 2018 and 2022 WC 100%. Forget about 2014 and start now. We can't focus on both.

So much wrong with local soccer. Pity it's come to this. With local passion for the game so high in SA, it is a pity it isn't being properly harnessed. Too many politicians. Development and junior academies, are they happening? Didn't feel like it. We should have a surplus of quality players in SA. Eish! :(
 
Afcon fiasco haunts SA

SOUTH Africa return to the scene of their great humiliation tonight when they take on Gabon in an international friendly at the Mbombela Stadium.

It is the venue where the side danced in celebration, believing they had qualified for the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations finals after playing to a 0-0 draw against Sierra Leone, only to find out minutes later that they had misread the rules and Niger would head to the finals instead.

It remains possibly the side's lowest point since South Africa's readmission to international football 20 years ago, and has scarred this generation of players who, it could be argued, have yet to recover.

The side have won none of their six matches since then, a run which ultimately led to the axing of coach Pitso Mosimane, who was a "dead man walking" from that day on, always just one poor competitive result away from the sack.

It is ironic that Mbombela was viewed as something of a lucky venue for Bafana before their Sierra Leone disaster.

Their first match at the newly built 2010 Fifa World Cup host stadium saw them defeat Thailand 4-0, at the time the joint biggest win in the country's history before they bettered that record with a 5-0 victory over Guatemala just a few weeks later.

The team then recorded a 2-0 victory over Niger in their opening 2012 Nations Cup qualifier in September 2010, giving them a 100 percent record at the stadium going into the Sierra Leone fixture.

And so this venue will now forever be etched in the memories of Bafana supporters as one of disappointment. Victory over Gabon tonight, a first for the side in nine matches, would at least go some way to easing their pain.

May Mahlangu is expected to spearhead the hosts' attack.

Good squad but I would replace Xulu with Mathoho Mulomowandau.
 
Rantie get's Bafana's 2nd goal, first time in a long while that 2 goals are scored.

3-0 is how it ends. Bafana finally get their win. Their first since August 2011 and 3 goal, not a bad game at all.
