Some good news in youth football:

The South African U/17 Men's National Team have been crowned Cosafa Zone VI champions after beating hosts Zambia 2-1 in tightly contested affair at Nkoloma stadium on Sunday, 16 December 2012.

SAFA

The U17 team's group results were:
South Africa 4-0 Malawi
South Africa 3-2 Botswana
Zambia 0-0 South Africa
South Africa 4-1 Seychelles
Semi-final
South Africa Angola

And some bad news:

It is bad news for Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana, as striker Bernard Parker could be out with a long-term injury, after he was stretchered off the field on Saturday.

Parker, who was named in the Bafana Bafana squad to play Malawi on December 22, suffered a “nasty” ankle injury in the match against University of Pretoria, according to coach Stuart Baxter.

Crazy times at SAFA, president, ceo and other officals have been suspended in connection with match fixing. The report is on Kickoff.

Good, everybody involved should be punished. I mean who prepares for a World Cup by playing Guatemala and Thailand?

Who suspended them? That looks like the whole of SAFA. Disband SAFA while you're at it and end this jobs-for-pals scam they've been running since forever.

First, CSA and now SAFA. Eish! So much nonsense in our sports associations.

3-1 win for Bafana over Malawi.

Good win. Hopefully coach will get enough progress with training and preparation for the Afcon.

A late Christmas gift:

DSTv now have the rights to Bafana Bafana's friendly matches. They also have the rights to all other SAFA controlled match rights. They will share rights with SABC in SA, but hace exclusive rights everywhere else.

It's a good day for SA football!

mobi.supersport.com/football/bafana/news/130102/SuperSport_acquires_rights_to_Bafana_matches

Why do you think that? They'll still be aired on sabc. And the plus is we can get it in HD with better camera work. Hopefully
Refer to Cricket. SABC gave up producing the feed after the Australian series last year, this year they're struggling to broadcast anything.

SAFA can't force the SABC to be a good broadcaster though. SABC still have rights to Bafana matches, friendlies form SAFA and qualifiers from Sport 5. SABC have failed to screen matches before, despite a mandate to show them.

Going to watch the match tomorrow. Unfortunately it looks like Serero and Furman won't be playing (KickOff.com). Still, am excited! Considering we are getting zero Afcon action in CT

Furman won't play, due to only getting into CT last night. Serero's fitness is still doubtful, and GI won't risk an injury. Don't want to go into the CT situation again, but the DA chose not to join AFCON. I hope that there is a good turnout tomorrow though. I'll be watching, on SSHD4. :)

Build up has started, game kicks off at 8.30. The match is on SABC1, SS4 and SSHD4.

Starting XI:

Itumeleng Khune
Anele Ngcongca, Bongani Khumalo, Siyabonga Sangweni, Tsepo Masilela
Thuso Phala, Kagisho Dikgacoi, Reneilwe Letsholonyane, Siphiwe Tshabalala
Lerato Chabangu, Katlego Mphela

Awesome gesture by Bafana Bafana, and the entire stadium, for the moment of silence for Burry Stander before kick off.

GO BAFANA BAFANA!
