The Banting/LCHF Thread

well which is it, the calories or the carbs? on pure LCHF you don't need to count calories

It isn't nearly that simple and both play a role. There are many factors which affect obesity, one of which is definitely carbohydrate intake. But it isn't the only one.

It's not like if you never eat carbs you will be lean and ripped even if you eat 1KG of biltong and 1KG of butter per day.

It's both. Eating too much is a problem, it's just far more of a problem if you are eating too many carbohydrates.

Just noticed that Pick n Pay add potato to their ostrich steaks. It adds three or four grams of carbs per 100 g meat. Not a big deal, but irritating if you're saving all your carbs for veggies and Castle Lite.

How does one add potatoe to a steak? Isn't it just a cut of meat unlike wors that's a mix in a casing?

What Kosmik asked... and, why the hell would you eat ostrich steak when you are on LCHF??? Ostrich meat is low on fat...

It's called potato starch or something in the ingredients. Strangely, it results in the steaks having more carbs than the mince and sausages.

The PnP ostrich steaks are actually like IQF chicken in that they have brine with additives added in. Not really a big deal to me except for the added starch.

1.) It's delicious.
2.) It can be drenched in butter to compensate for the fat content.
3.) It contains fewer carcinogenic proteins than mammal meat.

I was in a butcher and the dude behind the counter tried to punt his "fresh game steaks" on special. I told him to shove his lean meat and give me some real steak.

Lots of fat or GTFO

1) No its not, I don't like it.
2) Why do you have to do something if you can just buy a Rump Steak for cheaper and tastier
3) carcino-what? sounds like something I don't give a crap about

:D anyways, you eat what you want, i'm just giving you gears.

What's for supper, chaps?

Blue cheese and cream sauce over Rib Eye steak here....

Last night I made these tacos.

Shredded Cheddar baked and then shaped into taco shells before they harden.

Filled with jalapeño mince, cabbage and spicy sauce.

Have not banted for 2 months... 12kg gains... disgraced....

You can get rid of it again. I am in week 2 and determined not to fall off the wagon. Loving being free from Mcadonalds again and only eating my first meal of the day at 2pm.

After several months of being off, missing suger like a motherfarther
