I see there is a new book by Sally Creed and it has new lists. Green, gold, orange, red and a banned list.
Potatoes now on orange list.

Green list 0 - 5g Net Carbs. Eat freely from green list.
Mostly proteins and nuts on Gold list iirc. 0 - 5g
Basically an allowed to eat list, but not freely as on green list.
Orange list 5.1 - 25g Net Carbs. Eat cautiously
Red list - 25g Net Carbs. High Carb alert
Then Banned list = previous Red list.

Potatoes now on orange list, but I think it is for vegetarians?
New book caters for paleo and vegetarians, etc.

New book supposed to be released in November. New revised lists are on most of the big Banting FB pages.

Sounds like a money making racket tbh.

I wouldn't trust a word that woman says.
Reading between the lines, she's obviously had a falling out with the Real Meal Revolution (Noakes et al) crew.
Also, her debacle with the 'sugar-free chocolates' means I have zero trust in her.

So can someone shed some light on whether my meal choices are good for LCHF?

Breakfast:
Mugg & Bean Omelette with bacon and cheese
Side of creamy mushrooms
2 coffees

Lunch:
Some kind of large salad with either chicken, beef or salad with olive oil.
1 Coke

Dinner:
Beef stew with a few potatoes and vegetables. Usually with olive oil.

Loose the Coke and the potatoes. That breakfast should be enough to fill you until dinner.

Keto challenge on Reddit

Hi everyone! I'm going to keep this message short and sweet unlike the 9th Keto Challenge opening email.

Welcome to the 10th Challenge! This challenge will run from September 28 until November 9. Now's your chance to get your info in before the onslaught of newcomers begins. Here's the link to the new sheet (remember to update your bookmarks!) and here's the 9th Challenge summary infographic I'll be including in the next Reddit thread. The gist: participants who completed all 6 weigh ins lost an average of 8.7 lbs. We also had our highest rate of participation yet, and for that I thank you.

Let's keep going! If you're on this chain and you didn't participate in the last one, feel free to participate in the new one. Good luck everyone!

I was in the mood for some dessert today, and found sugarfree jelly and strawberry syrup at PicknPay. Not paleo-friendly of course, but pretty good.

The strawberry syrup, mixed with 200 ml fresh cream and blended with ice, is absolutely delicious.

Any of you guys use or still use intermittent fasting in conjunction with LCHF? I need to drop regained weight fast. I did a 24hr fast on Thursday and intend doing 2 a week on Mon+Wed or Tues+Thurs to further decrease calorie intake and hence speed up weight loss. I find fasting through breakfast and lunch while at work very easy and several cups of strong coffee with milk splash keep me smiling throughout the day until supper.

So i'm starting today on LCHF. I need to get weight off the honeymoon i've had with food has to end.

I've started with the following changes;

1. No Carbs, at all. (apart from what is in vegetables)
2. Im cutting down to only 4 coffees per day, mainly so that I can minimize sweetener usage as I cannot drink coffee without it and without coffee i get a monster headache followed by the zombie apocalypse..
3. Cutting proteins down to around 80-100g per meal.
4. Increasing or using fats with foods (olive oil & butter mainly and cream)
5. Increasing water intake a LOT. I've been very bad with that.

Hopefuly this will show me some kind of results in the next 2 weeks. For now i'm sticking to 3 meals a day simply out of habit, as I find that i'm still in the habit of feeling hungry if i "skip" meals. I know i'm supposed to drop some meals but i'll try that after the 2 weeks when i'm hopefuly over the carb cravings of death.

Please help me understand the following:
The way I understand it is that with IF, you limit your calorie intake to a small window period, which has shown to have weight loss benefits. The aim of IF is not to reduce your calorie intake, rather eat the same amount of calories in a smaller window period.
Is this correct?

Reason I ask is that I did a 18 hour fast yesterday (to try to overcome a plateau), and I just could not eat my 1400 calories in the remaining 6 hours. I was too full. I ended up eating around 800 calories. I am just concerned I am eating too less, hence making the weight loss counter productive.

Nah, you don't need to eat all the calories you would in a non-fast day... it's important to just eat until you are full (or not hungry any more). As long as you eat enough fats.

1. Just eat the right kind of veggies that add to your fat intake, e.g. avo
2. Try to cut out coffee completely... and then, after 3 months, when you go back to it, you won't need sugar. Cut out anything sweet tasting (even if it's fine) for the first couple of months.
3. Cutting down meat is fine, but don't starve yourself from it. Meat is good essay ;)
4. try using coconut oil instead of olive oil, butter ftw, and cream and cheese with everything! oh, and bacon... the more bacon the better.
5. Try to do 4L a day. It will be tough, but just see how close you can get to it.

You will see that once your body starts using fats for energy, you'll start to stay fuller for longer, and can get then start to think of skipping meals.

Carb cravings will be hell. But do this, it seems to work for me: When you want to have a carb, just don't.

Good luck! :D

At the moment, I am eating once every 24 hours (in the evening), combined with LCHF. The weight is haemorrhaging off.

No. Eat enough protein. Fat to satiety.

Protein fills you up faster, fat keeps your energy sustained for longer, which means you are fuller for longer, yes?
You need to maintain your muscle mass while losing fat. Eating the right amount of protein helps with that. Eating fat will keep you satisfied and within your calorie goals for the day. There needs to be a balance sure, but protein is the more important to target to hit.
