Makes me heavy for a few days......and then that passes![]()
This is the one Randir did for me a couple of weeks ago.
Seems very high.
So this is what I had yesterday:
2 coffees with cream
1 can of tuna, 1 kiri cheese, 1 packet of woolies pork crackling for lunch
4pork cheese grillers, 2 fried eggs for dinner
too little? too much?
I'm a big fan of Jason Fung and have been fasting almost every day for the past 2 years.
But... I've decided to cut back on fasting and start eating more regular meals, at least for the next month.
Reason being, I've been having heart palpitations for a while, probably the last 2 years or so. At first I thought it was stuff like a potassium deficiency, or a magnesium deficiency, or a reaction to whey protein or casein protein, but it was none of those. Eating excessive amounts of foods containing potassium and magnesium did not help, neither did stopping whey protein for 2 weeks. I did go to a GP, and an endocrinologist, and a cardiologist, and nobody was able to find anything wrong with me.
My heart is fine. My thyroid is fine. My hormones are fine. My kidneys are fine.
So, based on self observation, this is my theory - elevated stress hormones are causing my palpitations. My stress hormones can become elevated due to fasting. I think part of the problem with combining whole foods only with low carb and fasting is that it becomes easy to under eat. And I think that is what I was doing. Suddenly, fasting becomes a huge stress on the body.
That is my theory anyway. Over the next month, I will be eating 3 meals every day, and increasing the amount of calories I consume every day. If that works, I will do the occasional fast, but I won't do what I used to, which was skipping lunch Monday to Friday.
I've also noticed that my palpitations are worse in the winter - I think this is due to the fact that blood pressure is higher in winter, for everyone.
Fannie you nonce, that's your TDEE, you need to go lower to actually lose weight.
Also, spell my name right.
What works for one person isn't necessarily gonna work for the next guy
ek weet man. but how far under it does one go? 3000Kj is a bit much no?
Bingo!! And this is my wife's go to saying lately for anybody at her work asking for advice on how she looks so awesome after 2 children.
As for myself. I've dropped the fasting bit of my diet for now as I am bulking again. It is just physically impossible for my stomach to handle so many "clean" calories in the shortened eating window. Tried it for a week or so and I was physically sick after dinner as I was shoving my face with food.
3 times? What do you eat with so much carbs?Biltong makes me retain water - depressing to weigh after a biltong binge - usually up by two kg
Though due to salt content I don't consume that much these days.
Re carbs - damn hard to keep around 20gr of carbs a day - I recently started using fatsecret app to monitor daily food intake - I eat around 3x that much in carbs - though slowly learning what to avoid to stay around 20gr carb per day.
I also easily go over 50g Carbs daily. But I do intense exercise as well so it doesn't really matter. I can probably get away with 80-100g on some days.
The amount of broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower and other veggies I consume quickly adds up on the Carb counter. Unfortunately the yoghurt and cottage cheese I consume daily also contain rather moderate amounts of Carbs.
And salt is not the enemy. It is actually crucial to up it on the LC diet. Body naturally flushes it out.
Butter and coconut oil. How much butter did you use and did you blitz it in a food processor? What's a good recipe for bulletproof coffee? I tried butter but it was quite nasty.

salt is soo the enemy if you have high blood pressure.....
Yeah the carbs just add up from nothing - I drink way too much coffee, so trying to cut out milk from the coffee, but those alone make around 15 - 20gr per day - and then everything else during the day and easy peezy 40 -50 gr carbs.
