I slacked off for a couple months and i'm glad to say that today was week 4 of being back to the right way and once again I feel good. I'm not financially challenged anymore either so I am stocked extremely well this time around. A total of 8kg's and 7cm's in these 4 weeks .....

Naturally that allowed me to have a 'treat' so I got one of those Atkins Advantage bars (the 2g net carb ones) and while it was tasty as all hell, whew did it pull a number on my guts, lol. Also bought an awesome book yesterday, don't know if it's been mentioned here yet - Low Carb Is Lekker. Chock full of banting recipes (with good pics).

P.S - the WW low carb ready meals, the shepherds pie especially, are awesome if anyone was wondering.
Been following Low Carb is Lekker on the web. I'll be trying the lasagne this weekend!

Screwed up big time yesterday, bought pork bangers on an impulse and didn't check the ingredients/nutr info. Needless to say, 10g carbs/100g and eating half the pack (250g) for breakfast, along with all the other stuff that's been sneaking in to my meals (being too generous with the onions, "spicy" sauces that have more sugar than chilli etc) I got kicked out of ketosis. Not fun!

Today's plan: gammon, olive oil, salt, pepper, cauli, broccoli. Nothing else. :D

I'm keen to try the "pasta" recipe in Noakes' book, but I've heard that psylium can have some negative side effects?

The wife and I have been banting for the last 2 months. I feel much better and she is only now beginning to feel more energetic. We cut out all sugar, and are using xylitol when needed in cooking. I bake banting breads about 3 times a week. Our dinners mostly consist of meat or chicken and veggies.

Only problem is we haven't been loosing much weight. I lost 3 kg and she's down 1.

Cut the banting bread for 2 weeks and see if that changed things

you, banting bread is fine for maintenance, but if you really want to lose weight you have to be a lot stricter.

Yeah - I eat a lot of banting bread now that I am in maintenance. When I was losing and being strict - I never touched any sweetner or banting bread mixes. I literally only put natural, real food in my mouth: eggs, cheese, cream, a bit of veg, fatty meat, butter. That's it and I lost 26.

Bread made with replacements for the carb-heavy flour. Like coconut flour or almond flour.

But the problem with it is that those replacement flours are quite heavy calorie wise - so it affects weight loss. While we don't count calories on LCHF, weight loss still requires a calorie deficit to happen.

I don't disagree, but he did ask :)
