make more food in the evenings. plan for lunch.

this is one thing i've realised. planning is everything on banting... and time... time to make the food from scratch... there is no place where you can stop on your way home from work and quickly buy a banting friendly takeaway.

95% of our food is made from scratch. When we do eat out we stay away from carbs, so its mostly seafood, ribs, steak or schnitzel & veggies.

So then I gather you are not after a goal weight, but just want to live cleaner and without sugar?

If that is the case, this is where I am now - I want to avoid all sugar and added sugar - this is pretty much everything that is processed.

Low calorie cordials and diet drinks are fine in my book and a lot better than sugar laden stuff. I just have this fear of putting on weight and choose to live without said cordials and diet drinks - only on special occasions.

As a sugar replacement - they are awesome! Sugar is the devil!

Well i don't know about the devil I thought that was Brussel Sprouts, for weight loss I exercise, I just watch my sugar and carb intakes. I have been eating like that for the last 21 years since i was about 25 long story

Some of you guys are worse than women :whistling:

OHMYGODDDD I ATE A SPOONFULLLL..

We are carbohydrate intolerate. If we eat carbs, we put the weight back on. It's a health decision.

As someone who was borderline obese his whole life, living a normal size is what I have always been after. I agree with you though in that I am anal about sugar - I cr@p my wife out all the time for all the junk my daughter eats. It bothers me as I know what it does to the body.

Fekkit nicely done. How did you prepare it?

Covered the gammon in olive oil, salt and pepper, put it in the oven for 30 minutes on 220°C, double wrap in foil, then cook for 4hr 30min at 170°C, then unwrap and leave it in for another 30 min.

I can't find the original recipe I used, I think it was this one, but another recipe said to leave it in longer.

To add to what he said, there's also the addiction analogy. You wouldn't give a recovering drug addict "just a little bit", because it only takes a little bit to spiral out of control. Everyone is different, and at the end of the day, some people are just so much better off not eating carbs.

When I got home now, undressing, I thought to myself "These pants are getting way to big to solve with a belt." I can physically put my arm down my side and then still have to tie it with a belt to keep it up :D :D

Doesn't that just motivate you to keep it up?

Well done bud!

Guys, can we make a bit of a list? For some reason I have lost the plot in side dishes. I need about 7 side dishes which I can rotate through.

You guys have any suggestions?

if you have bacon, eggs and tomato for breakfast do you guys go right through to dinner or do you take lunch to wek?

I agree with fanie that it's all about planning so would it be OK to cook anything from the free list and have that at midday? I'm thinking aubergine, pomegranate and tahini.

Then maybe meat and one of the side dishes for dinner.

Do you count your calories or simply cut out carbs and sugar while upping the fats they recommend?

I've got the book but it's yadda yadda.....

Tks

I have 2 meals a day: brunch somewhere between 11 and 2 (guided by when I am hungry) and then I am only hungry again at supper time. I cut out all sugar and carbs. Meat, eggs, cheese, butter rinse and repeat.

Tks, judging by your weight loss that works well.

Do you use guidelines for quantities or eat as much as you like Flash?

I eat until satisfied - both now and when I was actively losing. When I was losing, I would dish up a reasonable portion and then wait a bit to see if I was full - 10 times out of 10 I would feel full soon after. Now I tend to go back for seconds because of how awesome the food tastes. The beauty with this lifestyle is that I don't put on weight from the extra eating - the body deals with it without storing. If I overeat on a meal, I find it takes much longer for me to be hungry again....

I recall pigging out on eisbein skin one night while I was losing - I think I ate 2x pork hock's worth. The next day, I didn't have the urge to eat until supper.

Was just joking :) But you have to admit, if somebody else had to read this tread...

I used to also be terrible when I started about the over extra I ate. Now that I have reached my goal, I have relaxed a lot.

So, I have read that blood type A do very good on vegetables, including veggy fat.
Since coffee creamers are veggy fat (Oh! I love my coffee with cremora :) ), is it good or bad for us (blood type A) to incorporate it in our LCHF diet?
Your opinion please.

I think that blood type diet thing is nonsense. Use real cream.
