The Banting/LCHF Thread

Witbank :D:D:D I laughed really hard.
Well, I used to do that everyday, in the morning, after Witbank (:D) and naked. Just before I dress up to go to work.

i normally weigh friday morn but i've only been dropping about 1kg last 2 weeks,
thus far its 14kg for +- 7 weeks

well done. I'm at just over 13 in the same time.
 
I weigh once a week (Friday mornings). I should have measured also, but was too lazy for that. My clothes are the measure, freaking everything is oversized now. Gonna cost me an arm and a leg to replace. I am waiting to stabilise before I will start to mass replace them. People around me just have to except I might look a little funny with my big clothes.
 
Just completed my required medical for work. Clean bill of health and because I've dropped my weight to within stipulated guidelines I am exempt for 2 years (I had to do it annually in the past).

TBH I've been a bit slack (odd chocolate here, a cold drink there) but I've been a good boy for the past week now.

@SlowInternet: 6.5kgs is awesome!

I have only lost 6.5kg in 6 weeks. Was hoping for at least 10kg by now.

For a decade I used to YO-YO with high carb, low fat calorie restricted (1200 calories per day) dieting. I would lose 10kg's a month giving me 30kg's in 3 months. Felt great and clothes fitted but in no time the weight started coming back due to high carb, high calorie foods....

On LCHF it took me 9 months to lose 26kg's and through learning how fat keeps me full and watching many documentaries on high fat and how bad sugar and carbs are, I have re-trained my brain for this new lifestyle (keyword).

For the first time in my life, since November last year, my weight has stayed constant (fluctuates up and down by a kg or so). That means I have finally found the sweet spot - a sustainable lifestyle which lets me pig out when I feel like it, but on REAL FOOD.

I just wish I had made this life change years ago. I have had 2x DVT\blood clots in my leg in my lifetime and I can;t help wondering if being obese and living on a high-carb diet may have played a part. For the second one, I was drinking a large sugary energy drink every morning when it clotted and both the sugar (inflammation and damage to veins and arteries) and the caffeine (restricting blood vessels) could be liable.

Sorry, I went on a tangent. Bottom line - slow weight loss good and is how this eating plan rolls. It gives you time to adapt to the new eating and learn to live with it for life.
 
As long as my belt gets a little looser and my weight (on the scale) doesn't go up :)
 
How often do you guys eat seafood?

Usually I'll buy either canned salmon (still expensive, but not as bad as whole pieces) once or twice a month and make fish cakes with it, or hake fillets and grill them. The hake has pretty much zero fat though, so I end up having to go nuts with butter and cream on the veggies.

i eat fish atleast 3 times a week, tuna mostly fresh and canned but prefer fresh kingclip but tad expensive.
try trout if the salmon is to exp ... exactly the same just farmed in sa

Stop grilling it and fry it in butter

For the first time, I must say I enjoy being on a diet. Few months ago, I couldn't imagine my dinner plate without rice, potato, pasta, etc. And I hated broccoli as hell!
Hubby says since I started banting, my plates looks so nutritious and exotic and his look boring. :D

feel the same way ... its actually fun eating with this meal plan!
