The Banting/LCHF Thread

My wife & I started this banting way of life just over a week ago. We need tons of advice and recipes. Our main issue is with bread. I am looking for some easy recipes. We've cut out sugar, potatoes, rice, cereals & bread.

You're welcome to ask away.

I am down 1.5kg after a week but the SO is still the same weight. I do have a bit more energy than 2 weeks ago.

I'll slowly start reading this thread from page 1.

Get the Real Meal Revolution, lots of recipes including a flax seed bread recipe

I am going to slowly try and cut out sugar and carbs. Dont think I will be able to do away with them completely though. A potato salad or potato bake is simply just too delicious to give up! Started using Xylitol today. Instead of 3 suger in my coffee (I drink about 4 - 5 cups at work) I now just put 3 teaspoons of Xylitol in. Cant say I miss the suger so far.

Why don't you try out and cut away the coffee completely.

Being addicted (or at least dependent) to coffee is just like being addicted (or at least dependent) on anything else.

It's crippling and should be yanked out of your system at any and all costs.

I drink decaf. Normal coffee makes me feel shaky.

Per 100g

energy = 860kj
protein = 9.6g
glycaemic carb = 17g
-of which is sugar = 1.9g
total fat = 10.2gg
-saturated = 2.4g
-trans fat = 0.2
-mono unsaturated = 3.2
-poly-unsaturated = 4.2g
cholesterol =<1mg

17g is almost your whole days carb in take with just 100g. On banting. So it all depends on what you want to do I guess

You a carb nazi dry fanny! :mad:

:p

Was rather tasty actually. Had lots of green leafs, feta and chilli stuffed olives with it ... and some mayo :)

I used to hate olives as a child. Made me naar .... but now I rather enjoy them. Strange. Maybe I am pregnant. :p

Makes bullet proof coffee rather difficult though.

found a choc fat bomb recp somewhere ... works for me ... sugar free choc powder with xylitol coconut cream
double thick cream and tiny tiny bit of full fat milk if you want it a little more watery and you blend it!

gr8 way to get your morning going, goes gr8 with a cheese omlet

I am going to try and just switch to rooibos tea. Not going to cut out coffee completely, but at work will switch to rooibos + xylitol

Coffee has become massively important to me since being on LCHF. I have several Nespresso's a day and love the taste without the sugar.

I would probably battle to give it up!

anyone know of any banting markets this weekend around cape town?

And when is the next big banting market in cape town?
