This thread needs less soup and more steak!

Actually folks should try pork steaks, nice fat content, good price and awesome taste with a cauli\cheese\bacon bake on the side.

Sorry no pics, was last nights supper :D

As I was lazily sitting yesterday, thinking what I could eat for supper, I came out with this "random" recipe all cooked up in my head.
2.5 cups boiled and mashed pumpkin
3 baby marrows
Parmesan cheese - grated.
Green onion powder
Salt and pepper to taste.

Chop baby marrows (about 1cm thick) place in a microwave-safe plate or baking tray, sprinkle over the onion powder, salt and pepper. Pour your pumpkin mash over and make sure it covers your baby marrows. Spread your cheese and sugar on top. Put in oven at 200°C for about 30min.
Enjoy some deliciousness! :)

Okedokey.

So you worker bees out there. I need to pack MR M some breakfast.
( he leaves at about 5:30 in the morning arrives at work 30-45 minutes later it's JHB it can be 2 hours as well)

Please give me some breakfast ideas that I can pack him.
He needs to loose 30kgs, and has a check up in 3 months with the doctor after being diagnosed with insulin resistance( high sugar not diabetic yet,)

We both has high cholesterol, he decided to drink meds for the next 3 months and I like pumping jam through my veins.

Dinner and lunch is kind easier. Breakfast... My brain doesn't work at a normal hour, that early in the morning it is switched off.

Cold meat cuts, boiled eggs, cheese.

Or perhaps give the seed crackers a go from the Tim Noakes REAL MEAL book - spread butter and liverspread from a butchery or Woolworths - the high fat will fill him until lunch easily.

does he have a microwave at work? just make some bacon and boiled eggs the previous evening, and let him warm it up at work.

if no microwave is available, the he should sit on the eggs first, before hatching ;)

There are plenty of cold meat cuts which are not processed - aim to buy cold meat which looks like it was sliced off a big chunk of animal and you will be fine. Sandwich ham and polony are problems.com

Oh, I can have a bit of bacon, but pork gives me insane headaches.

Omlette or Quiche
My wife make a big batch of quiche and put it in the fridge, then I just cut of a piece everymorning to take along. Mine is for lunch, I do my own breakfast.

I'm confused about baked beans, everthing I read says they are high in carbs but my wife bought a can of beans that are apparently low carb? Claims 5.5g per 150g?

View attachment 212172

Ignore the low carb label on this. The claim is 5.5g of SUGAR per 150g. The beans themselves still have loads of carbs in them. The line above it is pointing towards carbs. Which is 12g per 150g. The standard tin of baked beans has about 12.5g per 100g. So they are hardly different at all. Also the standard tin says Carbohydrates. This tin says "Glycemic Carbohydrate". I would be wary of any company that starts to put extra parameters into the definition of their carbs. It probably adds "Legal legroom" to their claim on lower carb content.
