The Banting/LCHF Thread

Your body takes 3-4 weeks to adapt to a LCHF way of eating, and you will feel bad.
And regarding cholesterol, do some more homework.
High carbs causes insulin secretion causes inflammation causes heart disease.

I have been banting more than 4months

Breakfast: 1 coffee and 1 tea

Lunch: small side salad and 1 cup of tea

Tonight for supper:
Chicken marinaded in Soy sauce, worcester and chinese 5 spice, accompanied with caulimash and veggies.

Once again, only finished half before I was full. Keeping the rest for lunch tomorrow.

I actually felt hungry today come lunch time ...... grabbed a piece of boerie, boiled egg and a banting bun now it's dinner time and no sign of feeling hungry as yet. Can see me making something at like 10pm :D

I just made some Low card bread with coconut flour and flaxseed powder but it still has around 17g of carbs per slice. There is no sugar or sugar substitute in the recipe, the carbs come from the coconut flour and eggs. Is 17gr of carb ok..bread was heaven, I missed bread...and I'm only on day 5

seems high that .... the recipe I use from Low Carb is Lekker is 25g for the whole mix. I make 7 sweet sized buns from that mix so what, 3.5g per roll. Nowhere near 17g lol

1 and a half cups almond flour
Half cup flax (I use coconut flour instead)
2 heaped Tbsp fine dessicated coconut
5 Tbsp psyllium husk fibre
2 tsp baking powder
half a tsp salt
4 egg whites
2 and a half Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 cup boiling water

almost identical recipe, actually I used way less flour, maybe I misunderstood but it shows 17gr per serving:

With coconut flour = 136 calories, 2.1g fat, 7.3g protein, 17.3g carb, 11.7g fiber
with almond flour = 209 calories, 14.2g fat, 8.2g protein, 15g carb, 9.8g fiber

I assume its per slice because a slice weighs around 34gr

I used:

half cup coconut flour
5 TBsp flaxseed powder
2 tsp baking powder
half a tsp salt
4 whole eggs or egg whites - I used whole eggs didnt feel like separating
2 and a half Tbsp apple cider vinegar
1 cup boiling water

It's definitely 17 for the whole loaf, coconut flour is about +-25g of net carbs* per 100g, and the recipe is only using 1/2 cup which is about 60g of flour

* Net carbs = Total carbs - dietary fibre

I had a shot of honey infused J&B last night.. was so tasty.

What's the thoughts on these honey infused whiskeys.. safe? I checked the bottle and there was no mention of added sugar.

Depends on how much honey there is (honey is more than 85% sugar)

Was driving from waterfall straight into Vorna valley last night and on the way passed a place that called themselves the banting market - so will pop in on Saturday and see what produce they offer.

A lot more places are on the banting bandwagon since I last went to a major mall, wow ...... banting product coming from every angle, very nice
