The Banting/LCHF Thread

Finally got the real meal revolution . Now it is probably in the thread somewhere but where do you guys get the banting basics such as coconut oil , almond flour etc and are they pricey?

Almond flour is crazy expensive.

I honestly would not be able to eat low carb if I was going to do it as per the Real Meal Revolution - It's too expensive and difficult to get the correct ingredients. I basically eat broccoli / cauliflower and meat. Doesn't require much thinking or expense. Do whatever works for you, but bear in mind that it doesn't have to be as fancy as is often suggested, and it's also probably easier to forego low carb alternatives to things like bread, pizza, etc.

Stumbled on a new Keto/LCHF Youtube Channel with some pretty decent videos to start off with. Only a month old but everything is factual and well presented.

I'm busy watching a 21 Day Challenge by bodybuilder Jason Wittrock where he is eating 4000+ calories on a Keto diet and tracking the results. (absolutely insane the amount of fat he is consuming and after 19 days he has actually lost weight)

Anyway, he made mention of this new channel/video and I went to have a look.
Some decent content to start off with and he really does explain stuff well.

Here is the link to the channel. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC5LiujlSc0_jA3v2qQjKszw

Finally found some of those Banting Revolution Pizza bases at our Checkers.

bleh!!

They are just too thin to serve as a decent pizza base. They sort of work well as a wrap but you have to work quick with your filling and rolling because they become quite brittle as soon as they cool down. And they are not very palatable unheated and just straight out of the packet. Guess it is the flax that makes them a bit snotty.

Otherwise they don't taste bad and the macros are really good.

I have been doing serious LCHF since 13 Feb and I have lost about 10kgs since then. Eat lots of eggs, avos, nuts, cream cheese and biltong and veggies at night. I recently bought The Banting Pocket Guide which is a nice book to have.

Try Low Carb is Lekker, great book geared for SA.

Have that one as well. I have the original Real Meal Revolution, Banting Pocket Guide, Banting 2.0, The Art and Science of Low Carbohydrate Living and The Art and Science of Low Carb Performance. Out of all of them I prefer Low Carb is Lekker and the Pocket Guide

Avos should be starting to come back into season around this time of year, right? How much you guys paying?

Fuertes (my favourite kind) for about R50 per 1.5kg at my local PicknPay.

I am so glad they're back.

I started banting again about 9 weeks ago. First 4 weeks I lost 6kg. Next 5 weeks I lost nothing at all !
