The Banting/LCHF Thread

At this stage just for my 3 or 4 cups of coffee a day.

Back when I first started making my own liquid sweetener I used them in all sort of LC desserts and even the odd sweet pumpkin / sweet carrot dish.

Why not just leave it out completely? Good coffee won't even need any extra sweetness, and if you add cream there's even less need for it.
 
I didn't know you can buy sucralose as a sweetner, that is cool. Liquid stevia is cool so far.

You can't. Well you do get the Selati and Canderel versions that contain Sucralose as well as other fillers.

I make my own pure sucralose liquid. Bought the sucralose powder from a chemicals company and I mix it with filtered water for my own liquid sweetener.

I tried. I really really did. I just can't do it.

I understand to cut it out completely is best. But I simply cannot do unsweetened coffee. :\

But I am pretty proud of myself that I pretty much stopped all other sweet fixes like the lemon curds, protein pancakes, cheesecakes and the likes.

Fair enough. But I swear, some (South American) coffee tastes like chocolate cake when you've been off additive sugar for a while.

Wife does pure black coffee or tea with absolute no problem. She actually can't stand to even take a sip from my slightly sweetened cup at times.

I've made peace with the fact that our taste buds differ to a degree. Same with her not liking spicy food and it forcing me to make 2 batches of stews/curries nowadays.

But yeah. I have cut down drastically on my sweet tooth in the last year and gave up on alternatives. Once in a while I will have some real cake or ice cream on re-feed/carb up days (for exercise purposes).
 
I do pure black coffee all day. Only time I add Xylitol is for my "nightcap" coffee where I have xylitol and cream with it.

A little bit of milk makes coffee plenty sweet enough for me.

Maybe its something you need to persist with? Give it 2 weeks.

The reason I say this is that I personally believe we need to wean ourselves off expecting everything to taste sweet or salty. We don't eat many bitter things.
 
Use raw honey as a sweetener instead of xylitol. It's more bittersweet rather than pure sweet.
 
I normally IF from supper to supper.

I tried a lunch to lunch since yesterday and found it even easier to sustain. Coffee at supper time was all it took.
 
Wife found these yesterday and we had them tonight as part of Spaghetti Bolognese - was awesome! I came off a 24hr fast so those 8 carbs (less fibre) are my sole carbs for the day, apart from the tomato paste in the mince.

Love those noodles, I buy 2 packs a week and have 4 meals from them. Tasty as too.
 
Sheesh, R40/pack ouch!

But Sharitaki is just as expensive I suppose, I'll stick to my sauteed cabbage strips :p

Yeah, but between wife and I, that is only R20 a head for the noodles and there was a half portion that went into a fridge tupperware, so not bad when shared

Those things are awesome, have you had the green one? I think it's cauliflower and spinach mix... even better!!!
