The Banting/LCHF Thread

Avocado, peanut butter chocolate chip cookies

I just made these.
Got request from my daughter and my first response was hell I disown you, but then I thought what the heck why not.

Basically throw a whole Avo into blender add some honey, peanut butter (around 3 /4 table spoons), one egg, some cocoa - I just put a couple of spoons in, if you have some dark Lindt chop it up a bit and throw it in, if you feel like some vanilla essence not essential - bake for around 15 minutes on wax paper and you have banting moist chocolate chip cookies.

Hey Guys

So after 2 weeks I have finally done reading this thread. Yes thats right three years worth of info...

1st: Its amazing how far banting has come in that time.
2nd: It was really fun following each and every one of your stories that for you took month, for me a couple of day.
Fanie you have been especially entertaining, thanks for that. You also seems to be the one of the few that still stick around after all this time. You havent posted an weight update in while tho?

So started banting two weeks ago (thats why i stumbled across this thread). All ready down 4KG's. Following nicely. I can belive more people are not doing this it really doesn't feel like a diet at all. Saying that planning and meal prep is a bit of a thing to get use to... But hey no one said it would be easy either.

So I can no officially stop creeping and start participation in the conversation. I only found the peanut butter bread today, so I will be doing that tonight for sure.

Small breakdown of my day-to-day: I start my day (04:00) with a cup op BP coffee on my way to work. At about 09:00 I will have a Breve from Seattle. No lunch as I find I need to force my self to eat as I am not hungry till about 19:00ish when its dinner time. Easily get 3-4L of water in my a day. Also no exercise for me at the moment, desk jockey so the only real movement I get is walking to the roof to vape about 4-5 times a day.

My Stats:

Weight Starting: 150 kg
Current weight: 146kg
Height: 1.8M

Anyway keep it up guys and thanks for all the adive

Hey, I'm still here too!

Started in May 2014, hit my goal weight in Aug 2014, and I've stuck to it and I'm still at that weight now.

Everyone says "Oh no I could never go without my bread/potato/pasta", and while I do miss those occasionally, I just focus on the stuff I can eat: as much steak, butter and bacon as my wallet can afford (i.e. not enough).

And even if I could go back to the "normal" way of eating and maintain my weight, I'd still stick to banting because of the health improvements. I used to get god awful hayfever and/or sinusitis every change of the season. Flu at least once a year. Colds every time someone sniffled in the office. Now, I think the only ailments I've suffered for over the past 3 years is headaches. I think I had an ear/nose infection once, over the past three year span.

So, dinner decisions for today: Boiled potatoes, tiny low-cal portion of skinless chicken breast, and low-fat dressing? Or a whole pork leg roast, crispy and drizzled with butter? Hrm...

Welcome to the fold. Yeh, I've been very lax this past year. And have actually started on Wednesday again to be very strict. From when I started in 2015, I went from 131kg to 103kg, and when I started now I was about 115kg... really need to break this blerrie 100kg.

The thing I love most about us big boys, is that the kg's come off so easily at the beginning, it's super motivating! Kosmik is still my poster child for what can be achieved with banting

Biltong over here. R150/kg

Going to do Gin and sugar free tonic for the rugby

I'm not loving that sugar free tonic in any form.

I'm also at the lowest weight I've been since probably my teens. Took a bit of an off week last weekend but that just meant a bit of store bought marinade which probably had sugar. Haven't had carbs since June 16th I think. I've got a weight goal for my birthday next month, and I think it's doable.

I didn't buy the meat. It was for a birthday so it was catered.

I've got some lekker ribs ready for smoking tomorrow though. Excited for that. Will probably just dress with a chimichurri or something like that.
