Used to have a pretty long beard. I could wrap it and tie it behind my head. Then I went and trimmed it down and kept it at a number 3 for about a year. Slowly growing it out again now, but not going too overboard.

I found that using oils worked best when it’s short, and then I used a balm when it was longer so that it keeps its shape. Didn’t curl my moustache or anything like that. Just kept it neat

Keep mine nice and trim at a 3 as well.

I used to have a great well-groomed beard in 2017 but abandoned the epicness as the barber I visited every month was just too expensive. He was worth it but damn it hurt my pocket.

Now I keep it short and shape it myself. Visit a cheaper barber but it shows. Thought by now my skill with a blade would have improved, but alas it is not to be.

@Pho3nix , coconut oil is good. But what I use is this beard balm. I forget the price now, was around R150 I think but damn it lasts long. This is from early 2018 as you can see from the condition of the tin, and there's still a lot left. Just a tiny finger-tip amount melted by rubbing in your palms and then applied to your beard as needed. Made locally here in KZN too.

If you really must have an oil, then use this, available at your local Pakistani barber for cheap cheap. Smells good! Made for ladies hair to be honest, but does the job. I stopped using it when I discovered the beard balm.

I'm struggling with my beard being quite dry due to the hellish temps we've had lately, so I'm also looking for something that works a bit better than the oil im using now. Might definitely have to check out the beard balm as suggested.

Can't grow a beard for s**t.

I went 5+ years without ever shaving and looked like I had pubes sprinkled around my mouth.

mine is self maintained at about 3 finger length.

Self maintained as in I pull it regularly and the longer hairs get pulled out.

Thinking of putting a ghd on it and letting it grow to Pai Mei length. Would be great addition to meetings and stupid requests.

Will post pics in a few minutes to get this thing going XD

Same issue with mine so I use a beard wash, then oil and later on some dark soft wax ..... stays luscious

I'm using the oil and balm from Bonafide beards, which I'm pretty happy with.
Keep it neat myself, then once a month or so I go to a professional.

Is there any place online to order beard products from? I haven't really checked around but thought i'd ask if any of you know of something like this?

I have been wanting to grow a beard, but my sides grow slower than my goatee area.
