The BMW 320d Fanboy Thread

Nope
Still get better range - and the torque ohhhhh that torque
At Highway speed my engine is barely turning over vs a petrol engine
was pondering the same last night, with the price of diesel , and then remembered, i currently get ( with load shedding traffic) 17Km/L , will be hard to find a petrol SUV that delivers that

Also a diesel engine is more durable as its made to deal with the high compression ratios which means a longer engine lifespan ( you could go around 400-500 000km before any major engine rebuild vs petrol where you looking at after 250 000km or so)

I pulled out the air intake to the turbo a few weekends ago to check the condition of the turbo and its still looks brand new and I realized that the car hardly boost hard because the low down torque is so readily available.

Servicing as well, Its oil, oil filter and air filter - glow plugs every 160 000kms - its less part but unfortunately my car has a 7.9 litre oil capacity which makes it more costly than my GTI to service but hey I dont need spark plugs and coilpacks just had to do that this week on the GTI  have you seen the price of spark plugs lately.

I hope this will make some saffas feel better about the diesel prices?

Cost me R2300 to drive +-1000km (x3, 2.0d)

So my x3 from Jhb to bloem , loaded for holiday, done 18Km/L up to bloem, from bloem to colesburg, we unfortunately got stuck behind a few trucks which hurt the economy a bit, we down to 17.5 now, but super impressed with the g01 x3

The fan / Aircon makes more noise than the road with this car, and even that’s not all too loud, and the comfort is epic

You bought an x3, I thought you went with the X1, or was I drunk that day?

I did get an x1, but it was just for a few months, the mrs mini was on select finance which was up end nov, so I traded it in for the x3 , mrs has the x1 blueberry now, and I have the x3, funny thing, the x3 ( it’s a 2021 factory demo that had 20000km on) is cheaper monthly than the mini, so it was a no brainier for me

It the first car I’ve owned that didn’t come with a “but”

The 520d was awesome, “but” a bit low
The x1 was nice, “but” for a larger guy, it was a bit tight, and I didn’t care for the front wheel drive only , I almost put the car into a lamp post more than once , and it was a bit under powered

The x3 was love at first drive, it checks every box and then some. Had a chuckle, start the car on the 23rd , and got greeted with a video playing on the idrive wishing me a happy holiday season

It’s the silly things that make it special , and special that car is

*before the …” you earn too much ****”

I have no issue perpetually renting a car , once it gets close to the motorplan game over, it gets swapped, although, the x3 might be a different story

Beautiful, what’s your thoughts on the taillight design of the LCI?

I’m in 2 minds still, darker colours work better.

A lol:

So the x1 has the taillights of which you speak, the x1 also has the stupid big grill, and I’m not crazy about them, the x3 being pre-uglyfication , love it ,the new idrive and professional cockpit in the x3 ( full lcd dash) makes any nerds inner child happy
