The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Probably depends as you say. I haven't watched a lot of those videos as they usually don't apply to us mere mortals, but I do recall seeing one of Kai Greene and he was using really light weights for bicep curls but going super slow and strict on form.

That's what I have to do ... slow reps. If I don't utilize proper form and balance I risk a serious chance of injuring myself.

I often watch youtube videos of the "pros" training, something that often stands out for me is their form, to me it looks very sloppy.

I watched a Jay Cutler arm/back workout this morning and his form was sloppy, he jerked the weights up and also didn't use the negative portion of the weight. my 5c

Maybe it depends on who you watch as another video of Dorian Yates and his form is spot on.

A few points to consider :

1. A lot of them do it just for the camera.
2. With the amount of juice they take, lifting with bad form will have 0 consequence for their gains. Unless they injure themselves because of it.
3. Many times, what may look like bad form, actually isn't. Lifting form is relative. Remember, guys like Cutler have been training for ages, they know how to hit the muscle fibers of their muscles in an optimal way.

But yeah, overall don't trust what you see with these bodybuilders. Of course there are exceptions like Brandon Curry and Lee Priest that train with superb form even on camera.

Actually most often they just pump their muscles full of blood (to get that pumped feeling and pumped look) without working or stretching their muscles to gain any real muscle gain.

Huh? Then rinse and repeat and win Mr Olympia?

Usually for magazine spreads and video shoots the pro bodybuilders don't even do those routines its because they being paid to do so. As for form a pro adjusts his form according to hit the muscles from different angles, eg Branch Warren & Johnny Jackson people will say their forms sucks but its what works for them. Remember when you first start you do the basics with strict form then once all the noob gains are gone its difficult to put muscle on naturally after 3+ years of training. This is when you have to know your body and tweak up the exercises but not to the point of zero form. Just my 2 cents as Rich Piana would say :-)

The Youtube channels that really helped me & its like my personal trainer for free are Chris Jones - Physiques of greatness, Rob Riches, Steve Cook & Kai Greene to name just a few. Hope this helps keep on lifting!!

Been even lazier than usual for the last few weeks.

Life has been a bit crazy.

Will hopefully get back into the swing of things from tomorrow - hopefully.

Cookies 'n Cream is still the best tasting flavour. Followed by Bananas 'n Cream.

Didn't like C&C at all.

Only sticking to Choc and Mint Choc from now on. If I want some variety I will go Strawberry. But none of the other flavours are great for me. Cream Soda was the worst of the lot.

Guess its up to each person because I loved cream soda and hated choc mint

Jip. Trial-and-error for each person.

I tried each and every flavour over the course of a few months.

Wife would also take a sample of each one. She also liked the Cream Soda.
