The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Cycling off creatine for a month. Feel like power is leaving me all that water weight will drop though and I wont have that bloated feeling and sometimes side & back ache for a bit. Kidneys will thank me for this and now I don't have to chug down 3 litres of water a day, less toilets visits too.

Still this & Whey protein with a fish oil supplement are the best and essentials for bodybuilding.

Still need to read up on it.

But anybody care to give a short explanation on why Fish oil is mentioned so much as a crucial supplement?

Fish oil is omega 3 you need it to reduce inflamation (remember when you train you break down muscle tissue) recovery for the muscle to adapt and grow for the heavier weight only happens when you recover after the workout. It also lubes your joints. Over the years all those pressing movements will kill your joints (shoulder rotator cuff) and a long term effect in body building when you older is possible Arthritis. Most lifters also have tendonitis in the wrist (knees too) area at some point so this helps in the wear and tear department. Its all about nutrition and recovery the actual training is the easier small part to control. Thats my 2 cents.

If you can get good quality cod fish into your diet on a regular basis which most of us can't that helps too.

You welcome

Carbs are very high in this product but if you on a bulk looking for them gains then I suppose its ok. Should have just got some type of Whey Protein.

Usually Mass Builders & testo boosters are rubbish!
I'll only be taking this after a workout, and currently I'm only getting to gym once or twice a week and probably low on calories.

I've done my back.

Dangers of working out at home.

2yo daughter always plays in the other half of the garage while I'm busy. Yesterday while busy doing deadlifts she decided halfway through my second set that she wants the spindle lock behind me right now and can't wait.

In an effort to avoid hitting her with the barbell I had to bail halfway through a rep and I put the 130kg down by arching my back quite badly.

Immediately knew something was wrong and stopped.

Wasn't that bad yesterday but this morning I can barely stand up or sit without excruciating pain.

Aaargh! Last thing I wanted now was to miss my weekly workouts.

Did you go see a doctor yet and get a xray?

Eish dude, that sucks, hopefully it's not too serious. Obviously you didnt want to ban her from the garage when you're working out but you may have to from now on, for her safety and yours.

I guess dropping the barbell outright would have been risky for her?

Yeah she was too close to the edge of the barbell for me to risk just dropping it.

I'll either have to be more aware of her during my workouts or I'll have to workout when she goes to bed.

Family dynamics make it very difficult for me to ban her.

I got some Norflex from the pharmacy this morning and it helped a lot so I'm hopeful that it is just a minor strain.

Did legs for the first time in a few weeks this morning - going to hurt tomorrow. Was a good session though.

What do you guys do for legs aside from squats?

Did some squats today, then some lunges with a barbell and some weight, some leg press work and some standing calf raises.

Could barely walk down the stairs at the gym when I was done

I do varies squads and then hack squads.
Leg press, lying leg raises, leg extentions.

Some days when I don't feel like a fatty then I do some Box jumping basically trying to jump higher each time

Just some feedback on the back.

Luckily only a bad spasm. Doctor gave me some muscle relaxers, pain killer and 2 weeks off from gym.

Already feeling much better tonight.

Take it easy guys.

Lucky! I've spent most of my life believing I had a fractured vertebrata from a rugby accident in school, since this is what the physio at that time told me. I finally bit the bullet and had a full range of xrays and MRI scan done 2 years ago just to confirm there was 100% nothing wrong :o Since my conversation with the neurologist that day my back pain has basically disappeared, the mind is a powerful beast ;)
