The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Legitimately saw my ass off my horse yesterday.

Was lots of fun.

will I build if I mostly use machines for training instead of free weights?

If you're just looking to get in shape a bit, it's no big deal, BUT freeweights are better, the machines are stable you're locked in a fixed position you don't have to balance the weight, great if you just wanna target the intended muscle but you do miss out on working the smaller stabilizing muscles.

Anybody with some suggestions on HIIT cardio that has little to no impact on knees.

Knees have always been shoddy. Been a lot better since I started lifting because of the stronger muscles around the knee. But I still can't jog or do any high impact exercises without my knees crawling into a pit of despair for at least a week afterwards. Even walking long distances like at festivals or a regular shopping outing with the wife is pretty hard on my knees.

Normal cardio (stationary bicycle, Orbitrek) ain't doing it for me. Too boring.

HITT can be applied to any cardio. What about cycling? Should be OK on your knees.
Otherwise rowing HITT is very good.
It shouldn't be boring... If HITT is boring, then you're not doing it right!
It shouldn't be longer than 20-25 min per session, and done flat out.

I wonder what these cost. It's for knee / leg rehab IIRC.

TRAINER FEATURES - Grucox
www.grucox.com/TRAINERFEATURES.aspx
Eccentric Training explained briefly:

During an eccentric contraction, the muscle elongates while under tension due to an opposing force. This muscle action occurs during everyday activities such as lowering a weight, walking down a hill or performing a squat.
Rather than working to pull a joint in the direction of the muscle contraction, the muscle acts to decelerate the joint at the end of a movement or otherwise control there positioning of a load.

Studies have shown that Strength training involving both eccentric and concentric contractions increase muscular strength more than training with concentric contractions alone.

In essence, the Grucox Eccentric Trainer is an interactive leg training machine, which allows the user to combine eccentric and concentric exercises, while keeping track of performance data.

This allows the user to optimize his/her training routine in order to achieve maximum strength and endurance gains in the shortest period of time.

The Grucox utilizes Reactive Muscle Conditioning Technology™, a dual direction modal exercise technology which allows the user to combine concentric and eccentric muscle exercises during a single training routine.

This invariably results in a greater improvement in strength, mobility and proprioception – as compared to traditional concentric exercises.

The Grucox employs a state of the art Servo-Drive system, which allows the software to accurately regulate the speed and torque , providing the user with a seamless / optimised experience.

I had a monster session at the gym today. I started gymming about 3 weeks ago again after a 4 month "resting period".

My muscles are at a point where I'm not too stiff the following day. I started slowly again. I worked my shoulders heavily (but VERY carefully) today. My shoulders are my Achilles heel.

But today I really worked it.

Now ... don't go asking me about any specifics ... because I'm still in my first year of gymming. I'm still slightly built but I expect things to change over the next 2-3 years.

Today I had no energy for gym. Went in and after 10 min said fk it. Just could not get into it

Had a killer gym session today for back - high volume heavy. Expecting some gains by December for the summer time. A cobra/stingray back with a v taper.

the 5 x 5 is finally starting to get harder, liking the app, considering upgrading to the paid bundle. I usually end up either doing more reps, and adding isolation or core excercises after. 1 set of deadlifts to me seems idiotic, so i do all 5

Use an MMA/Boxing punching bag. Obviously don't kick it, just go crazy with the punches. Don't forget to warm up your torse/legs/wrists/shoulders.

That is a good idea thanks.

I have punching bag gathering dust in the garden shed.

I often watch youtube videos of the "pros" training, something that often stands out for me is their form, to me it looks very sloppy.

I watched a Jay Cutler arm/back workout this morning and his form was sloppy, he jerked the weights up and also didn't use the negative portion of the weight. my 5c

Maybe it depends on who you watch as another video of Dorian Yates and his form is spot on.
