RE: Bulk vs Cut vs LeanBulk

This is something that intrigues me quite a bit.

In a way I feel the margin for error with LeanBulk is too small and chances of losing out on them gainz are just not on. When doing it this way you need to know your TDEE exactly and track calories like a hawk. Even then I think you are going to be out by 100 here or there.

But it shouldn't really matter that much because it is lifestyle change and long term goal, right?
If only us humans weren't so impatient and in need of results and looking swole/lean/ripped as fck RIGHT NOW! :D

Then with Bulk and Cut you have the other side of the coin. Most of the times bulk leads to overestimating yourself and eating way more than required. Even binging because you are making them gainz, right? 3 months later you look like you regained your baby fat but you brush it off because underneath that polar bear insulation is all them gainz!
And with cutting you basically starve yourself and can't risk doing anything social with friends or family who "Just don't understand".... You feel like crap but it is all for the greater good, right?

But then again you see results on a weekly basis with the bulk/cut approach which is why most people do it.

The psychological part of this whole journey is such a cluster fck.... I can't even tell you how many times a year it crosses my mind (and it gets debated heavily in there) to switch between cut/bulk/leanbulk/recomp. I'll be lying if I say it doesn't happen weekly depending on how I perceive myself in the mirror. But that of course all differs on a daily basis because of hydration/pump/etc...

This is a great answer. I guess I am more of the patient kind then. I've never wanted to be under 10% body fat I guess, but I do have abs all year round and am constantly "making gains". I don't count calories per say (I do have a guesstimate of what I'm putting in my body) and feel better that at any moment I could take my short off and not feel that I'm looking "fat".

I think I find it more of a challenge than bulking and cutting.

So MyProtein have sent me a package and provided a tracking number but I have no idea where to track it from.

What does the tracking number look like? If it starts with EE, you track on Jerseypost.com. If it starts with HUT you track on trackmypack.com

I think i might be becoming lactose intolerant.

Last few days my protein shakes have been killing my digestive system. My stomach is all like 'urrrgggghhh'.

Maybe I'm taking too much. I usually take about 120 grams.

Congrats. Feels great, doesn't it?

I use Jefit App to track progress and volume and just feels so nice when it tells you "Congrats you have hit a new 1RM".

Like 4 servings? At a time?

Of course your stomach will be going bonkers to process all that protein... The farts must be killers?

na it's just a few numbers. I'll try sticking in EE or HUT in front of it.

Lol they are pretty bad.

Basically I'm too lazy/have no time to cook meat often and I try to get a lotta protein per day so whey is so efficient lol.

I try to follow the 1g/lb of bodyweight rule but it usually doesn't pan out that well. But I'm pretty close most days.

And yeah sick of whey lol the taste, the mixing of shakes and the way it makes me feel - blegh. But protein is protein heh.

Try mix it with something else maybe, like smooth cottage cheese?

I found certain flavours kill my stomach like that.

Nutritech chocolate whey used to turn me into a gas giant.

The Isolean Diet Wheytella by USN tastes really, really good and only has 1g of sugar per serving. It does not make me gassy or make me feel queasy once I drink it. I generally battle to drink any type of protein shake, but this is around the easiest to get down so far.

On an unrelated note, I have been having a running discussion with my mates (who all do functional fitness training), and they are all adamant that I should be suffering from a lot more DOMS. I train every two days, with a three way split as follows:

  • Chest, shoulders and triceps (followed by a 20 minute cardio session)
  • Back and biceps (followed by a 20 minute cardio session)
  • Legs and abs

For my upper body I do two warm up sets of 12 reps at around 50% of my usual weight, then 3 x sets of 12. The last set I try hit 12, but I will push myself until technical failure. Lower body is the same, but I just do 10 minutes on a bike to warm up instead of warm up sets.

I am in my third week on my beginner program. The first week was hell, but now I only get mild stiffness for a day or so. I use a lot of compound movements (such as dead lifts, squats, presses, etc). I try and hit PRs every session in either weight or reps as I am new to strength training, and I usually do if I have been eating and sleeping well.

Should I be experiencing more stiffness and pain? I am starting to question myself now and am getting this nagging feeling I am not pushing myself enough.

Really bad posture for really weak glutes, can't work out legs because my knees always give because of this.

In my limited experience the more I train the less stiff and sore I feel - I will feel that I've worked but I don't really get much soreness.

Hi guys,

I've NEVER taken any supplements before but I'm considering taking a pre workout.

I've just hit 30 and i've found that i'm slowing down in terms of energy levels, so I'd just like something to give me a small boost.

Having never taken anything like this before, what should I consider?

Note: I'm not a bodybuilder or a gym junkie. I prefer to get my exercise from things like boxing and kung fu (not sure if this makes a difference, being more of a cardio based exercise and less weight intensive)

At the moment i'm looking at SSN and ON:

http://dischem.co.za/product-view/73639/optimum-gold-pre-workout-330g-apple

Any thoughts or assistance you can offer?

Thanks!

Honestly, if you are not pushing heavy weights, just have a couple cups of strong coffee and a banana or 2 before gym.

I prefer Nutritech Amino-Pre. It doesn't have as big a "kick" as other PWO but it is enough to get me through a workout on these hot summer days. Work out in my garage so no luxury of gym aircons.

I only use it on extremely hot days when I feel a bit lethargic due to the heat. And I also use it on Sundays when I do fasted cardio in the morning. Has decent serving of BCAA.
