Guys now thats its christmas we see an abundance of turkey meat in stores which is an excelllant lean protein source including duck. Gonna snag a couple kgs for the meal prep in January when they clear out and go on special. Any other thoughts?

I'll rather eat another type of lean meat, or eat less, than eating turkey.

I'm doing 5x5 and struggling with the minute rest between sets of 5. I'm sure it'll get harder but right now it's a little easy. I'm trying to build up and don't want to just add two or more exercises in week 1 but yoh... after doing supers and giants mostly it seems really odd and a bit too easy. Muscles are feeling it the next day but still.

Squats - how are you guys doing yours? I'm going to try lighter but ass to the grass - my only issue is my ankle doesn't flex such that I can keep my heels flat - I end up on my toes... I may try a block under my heels for that. Any tips? Should I just be stretching or getting more flexible here or is this a genetic thing that some people can squat flat with flat heels and others can't?

I'm currently on week 5 of 5x5 - been out for a while with a ****ed shoulder, but working out again has ironically improved it. Still a long way to go again to get back to a normal level.

I stretch before and after every session. Not only does it help your muscles grow, it also improves range of motion, so definitely stretch as much as possible.

Great vid! Thanks for posting. I'm going to try a set now to see. I may go low bar - basically where I stick it for good mornings. I'm happy to report that I was doing exactly what he suggested - I just need to trust the par to keep me upright and stick my chest out more to hit the floor flat footed. Works well thanks!

Loving the empty gym. Not going to be so great in a few weeks. Really wish I had a home gym for then.

Can't stop my lifting program. Doing extra sessions to get my cardio in. T-Minus 11 weeks until I need to be ready for a 4km swim.

You should not be doing static stretches before working out. Rather keep them dynamic.

I can't handle this ****ing heat.

Since I gained weight I'm just in full time overheat mode.

Drink less beer :p

Too much beer and your body generates heat to get rid of the excess energy :p

1 beer is ok. 2 becomes too much energy for your body. I learned this the hard way.

Think I strained my quad yesterday doing sprints. Felt like a full on cramp, so did bear crawls for a bit and then the pain got too bad to even walk. It's better today, but still quite tender. Think I will be off my feet for a few days. -sigh-

Where is a good place to look for different workout programs for different goals?

I wonder if it's worth putting all the best workouts together in one thread and have it stickied?
Post your fav workouts here and I'll compile into one thread.

My Fav:
Sixpack shortcuts:
https://www.slideshare.net/mobile/sixpackshortcut/mike-chang-six-pack-shortcuts-36084830
An awesome combination of HIT, functional and weight training that will get you fit and build strength. Best program I've done but definitely not easy to keep it up on a busy schedule.
Includes eating program and videos online.

Stronglifts 5x5:
https://stronglifts.com/5x5/
An easier program on the heart than SPS but good for steady strength building.

Mike Chang leaves Sixpack Shortcuts: http://mikechang.ca/mike-chang-sps-2/

Full on cramp in your quad? Eina.

Did it happen during? I got a severe cramp in my calf before and I know bad it can be, was limping for about 3 days.

Can't really imagine what a quad cramp feels like.

I did deadlifts today for the first time since 2012.

They're such an alpha exercise, but not really for people with back problems.
