Fortunately my gym is always that empty :)

Happy lifting in 2017 to everybody. Hope you smash those PRs and get shredded!

Full on cramp in your quad? Eina.

Did it happen during? I got a severe cramp in my calf before and I know bad it can be, was limping for about 3 days.

Can't really imagine what a quad cramp feels like.

The pain started slowly and then ramped up to the point where I couldn't put any pressure on my leg. The muscle is still a little tender, and maybe even a bit swollen I think. And, yes, it was pretty painful. My diet has not been on point as I have not been eating enough so I paid the price.

And, happy happy everyone! New year. New goals and PRs. New obnoxious people to deal with at the gym.

I signed up at a boxing gym for some group sessions to avoid the January mayhem.

Gym has been empty since 10 Dec for me. Dead quiet today as well. People must still be heading back home.

Renewed my membership today again for another 3 months.

R300 x 3 months = R900

What does your membership cost?

Brief intro...

I'm a 41yo male (1.75m) and tipped the scale at just under a 100kg about 2/3 years ago. Started reducing sugar / carbs and eating much less than I used to. Also started gym beginning of last year doing just machine cardio but switched 5 months ago to doing the super circuit. I normally go 2 or 3 times per week and complete 1.5 to 2 circuits per visit (weights as heavy as I can muster to complete at least 25 reps in-between the lights).

In addition I started doing this 3 weeks ago at home when not going to gym : http://www.menshealth.co.uk/workout/six-pack-crunch-time
I do each exercise with mountainclimbers in-between.

It **seems** to be helping in toning my midriff. In the right light and with the right posture I have some dimples which could be mistaken for a sixpack. :D

Anyway.. I'm now down to 69kg (goal is 67.5) so would like to find out if the above exercises complement each other well enough so I can carry on toning up (not keen on super buff).

Thanks

PS. I know abs start in the kitchen but I'm not disciplined enough for a militant diet. I do watch what I eat but also have the odd spoil(s).

Welcome to the thread.

You cannot spot reduce fat. Abs are all about diet, so if you want that 6 pack (and to keep it), you will need to find the discipline to get your diet correct.

And you will not get "super buff", no matter what you do. That takes years and years of dedication. If you want to be lean, diet and watch your macros.

Yeah.. like i said .. started the journey a while ago so not looking for instant gratification. Just wanted to ensure the exercises are not working against each other (or my goal).

If anything I guess I'm needing more protein in my diet.

Well, unless you are an athlete, no exercises will work against each other. Your best bet is to do a 12 week programme. Check out www.bodybuilding.com. They have free training plans (with exercises and meal plans) with really good advise. They do push supplements, but I don't really buy into all of that. I like to eat my nutrients, and just use supplements to close any gaps.

I suggest you start tracking what you eat. It's difficult at the start, but easy to get into it eventually. I use an app called MyFitnessPal.

Regarding supplements.
I take the following supps and dosage:
Creatine x 5 gram in the morning
Glutamine x 2/3 spread out the day
BCAAS x 2
Whey protein after workout.

Any further advice or corrections?

Add Omegas - get bulk fish oil caps from Dischem. Good for blood oxygen levels... ergo performance in the gym.

Thanks. Downloaded this and started using it this morning so will see how it goes. Just for non barcoded stuff, how do i know which option to choose. Like chicken for example (generic ones; not KFC or the like) has various entries with different calories associated to them. Just choose one and hope for the best?
