The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Great! Burned my palm into a cluster of blisters with a hot pan straight out of the oven.

Just a millisecond of forgetfulness.

Won't be able to grip any bar for a while.

For beginners, those who complain about heavy training routines & older guys use this routine by Rick

Ouch - that doesn't sound like much fun :/

Need some advice guys,

Just finished my first experiment with BCAA's - NUTRITECH AMINO BOOST 2.0. Got a good deal on it at the time. Now i need a replacement/alternative and I'm not sure whether to get the same again or try something different.

Any ideas/opinions? What are you guys using? Looking for something reasonably priced....

EDIT

Shot bru....

Wouldn't bother to be perfectly honest...

What were the results of your experiment?

I started using it after i was having trouble with my new routine (4 day split). For the first 6 months I was using a Upper body/lower body split.

Results... gained 1-2 kilos but that might be due to new routine.
Mostly i was less tired after workouts (cause i need to study).
Less soreness in general. I only used 1 scoop after workout

Yeah still not very familiar with it. i should keep better track with next one....

I guess. I try to keep my diet up to scratch so in theory i should be ok without it.... but any potion that helps :D

Have you tried it before? experiences?

BCAA's are most effective intra workout or as a drink during the gaps inbetween your meals to keep you anabolic so yes as a post workout it can be used but thats not the most effective way. Try SupplementsSA BCAA's its like R130 from Game has some HMB in it too. Thats the similar stuff in Muscletech Clearmuscle. You may get some gains.

Better to go with a Whey protein isolate protein powder and a bit of simple carbs directly after your workouts for the soreness with some added L- Glutamine for post workout recovery.

BCAA's also good if you doing fasted cardio to prevent muscle breakdown and loss o

Hey Raph, Thanks this helps a lot. I havent tried an Whey isolate or Glutamine. I think i'm gonna go with that.

Glutamine seems cheap all round thinking of getting the USN double pack for around R200 (Dischem). Gonna use my current whey until I find i decent Isolate i can afford. If you guys have any brand suggestions for either let me know. :)

I suggest nutritech. Best bang for buck. Its 620 from TAKEALOT

The Nutritech for R619 at TA isn't an isolate though, it's only a concentrate. Isolate whey is more expensive. Personally, I'm happy to use Nutritech Whey, Cookies 'n Cream my current, and still favorite.

OK, so looking at my calendar I have roughly 14 weeks to get back into shape after sitting on my arse for 2 months. I started getting good gains doing SL 5x5, but that was before moving house and destroying my routine. . I only supplement whey once a day and creatine, other than that I believe in real food, eating 5 meals. Anyway...

Can anybody recommend a training program? Seems like the whole internet is full of "bulk in 12 weeks" programs. Anybody have one that actually works? Something structured to help me get my act together before strutting around in my speedo come December.

SL 5x5 is a good program :P If you're 'experienced' then maybe try an RPT program or 5/3/1?

On a different note: for all those with the 'winter bulk' fat, when are you starting the dreadful diet and how much do you want to lose? I need to drop 5kg =(

I have a bit more than that to lose. My first cutting cycle.......

Weird request. Is there anyway to increase size of ankles?

Wife says its way too small and friends used to tease me I had models legs. Even though I have huge feet.

Now with the calves getting bigger the wife is complaining more. Since I normally wear shorts.

My guess is that there is nothing I can do since its genetics.
