The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

yeah I wouldn't either since it stops the free movement of the weights (I don't use the smith machine at all) but I see a lot of people doing squats in them.

Do you mostly do benching in it then?

Nah I do some OHP or heavy shrugs when I'm lazy. Usually I do those in the power rack as well though. Squats in smith actually sounds dangerous :p

Dangerous and lazy - you can see that all the people that do it use the bar to steady themselves - they lean into the bar.

I'd rather not squat than use the smith machine it feels so unnatural/uncomfortable

you can "tone" your body but it means tightning shiz up by losing fat and gaining lean muscle.

I took a month off and I jumped back in this week

weighted pull up 15kg 5x5
close grip weighted pull up 12kg 5x3
weighted dips 15kg 5x5
overheard press 40kg
bodyweight rows 3x10
deadlift

has anybody ever gotten these before (not me in the pic I'm black :P) my girlfriend spotted them this morning and she was worried

I get those when i do traps or upper back - think its just the expansion of the blood vessels from the pump. Thats a good thing i'm told. Can also get it from doing heavy high bar back squats. These are signs of a true lifter.

Whatever man, if you're gonna get upset over people using the term 'toning' then have fun. Everyone knows what a person means to achieve when he says this, what's the problem -_-

I was hoping someone here could point me in the right direction in terms of reading material? There is so much online, that I really dont know what is trustworthy or not. I'd really like to know the best route for building muscle at the moment. See I dont even know if I should be putting on weight at this stage? Some people say NO CARBS, then other say I have to eat more now than ever even if it exceeds my daily burning??

I am 1.88m and currently weigh about 89kg. I have been going to gym for 3 weeks now. I started on the 20th, so today is the end of the 3rd week.

My program looks something like this,

Mon – Chest/Triceps
Tue – Back/Biceps
Wed – Cardio
Thu – Shoulders
Fri – Cardio

I'm currently doing 8-10 reps, and 3 working sets.

I take a protein shake after work-out, and then again just before I go to bed. Its a Exox high protein low carb shake.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated
