update I've finally defeated the plateau(45kg), managed 3 clean reps with 47.5 kg attached, a day later and I've got the flu bye bye gains :(

Canal Walk.

Damn, so around 500 seems to be the norm

That's a lot better, 440 is a decent price.

Hmm. I must ask her about this, if she can get a similar deal then that'd be okay.

Were on Discovery with Vitality. We score cause we are 4 that have joined VA at R150 each and Vitality costs me R160 pm

No, its not. I pay R169 per month on a no strings-attached 24 month contract at Planet Fitness and I go whenever I want...which, for this year so far has only been 7 days. I need to get my ass into gear! :(

Been training for weeks with no pain and, blam out of nowhere, have pain and stiffness in my shoulders, glutes and hamstrings. Had to almost waddle up the stairs at work. Felt like an invalid. The human body is really a strange thing. And to top it off, I have sprints today.

smh gym is too full, couldn't get a decent routine going

Also, all the juiceheads come out to play between 4-7 pm.

dont mind juiceheads, but damn they make me feel like a nonlifting twink

Ahhh, got a good stronglift routine in this week. Managed all 3 sessions (Mon/Wed/Fri) after work.
Still a novice, but up to 40kg squat & row / 30kg BP & OHP. Loving it. :D

What should my aim be? Obviously as much as possible... but is bodyweight considered a decent accomplishment?

Aim for, first goal: (after a few weeks, months, 3-4)
squat - body weight
bp - 70% body weight
ohp - 40-50% body weight
dl - 125% body weight
rows - same as bp

Out of interest sake, my wife is now up to 50kg squats while her body weight is below 60kg, but she can barely do 20kg bp and ohp. But she is very motivated!

That's a pretty good OHP for a novice GJ

That's pretty damn good

Glad she doesn't shy away from the benches either :D

embarrassed to say my OHP is my weakest lift, but I can do handstand pushups for 5 reps :(

Don't be :)

It is probably everyone's weakest lift, including myself. I am stuck for ages on 40kg, and every time I push to 42.5kg I manage to somehow hurt a little stabalizer muscle in my back. This is after proper warmup and trying to keep my form as good as possible, but as soon as I try over 40kg, form suffers :(

I can do a 40kg OHP with 2 X 20KG dumbbells, but not for many reps. Like 6 or something. I weigh 80KG.

Yeah. OHP is a humbling exercise. It is probably the exercise (actually muscle group) I fatigue the quickest in.

I can easily do 60kg x 6 on my first set and then I still feel like I have a rep or two left in the tank. Come the second set I have to really grind out that 6th rep. And most of the times I fail at rep 5 on my 3rd set. I now added a 4th set just to try and get my volume up but it is a joke. 3 reps max and usually the last rep my form really struggle and I mostly give a little boost with the legs like a push press. :o

Extending rest periods to double the time doesn't seem to help that much either. When those muscles are tired, they stay tired :D

Slightly off topic...

But do any of you guys use bluetooth/wireless earphones while working out? Tips, recommendations?

I've been using a small little BT speaker in the garage but it has been acting up lately and I want to replace it. Otherwise I use my standard earphones that came with my phone when doing cardio (jogging/spinning bike). If I can use the BT/Wireless earphones for both purposes it would be a nice little bonus.

Not looking to break the bank. I've seen some earphones go for R2k+. NOT GOING TO HAPPEN! I'll then just sing to myself :D

I use these daily, to and from work, and at gym:

I enjoy music, so sound quality has to be really good, which usually goes out the window with BT headsets unfortunately, but these have really impressed me. I chose them cause I got sick of the wires on my last set getting tangled on everything all the time (I use public transport, have a satchel, etc). Used to retail for £150, but got them on sale for £99 over a year ago, and still going strong.

Due to weirdly shaped ear canals I can't use in-ear type headphones, and I hate the feeling of on-ear, too. These are over-ear and extremely comfortable.
