The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

if its anything like the youtube vids ill die lol.

ive heard its the most violent form of martial self defense

Not really, the point of Krav is to take the shortest path to disarming and disabling an attacker. It's not designed to be fun to watch or competitive, just short sharp movements to defend yourself.

How far are you from Somerset?

man boxing sounds legit

do you have any issues with wrists/elbows etc?

I have a pretty ****ed up left wrist, can't even do a pushup without pain, I can bench with straps though.

I'm assuming boxing would literally shatter my wrist like a glass

Boxing would possibly even strengthen them. Sometimes a little impact is all you need to get your body to respond and build supporting tissue.

Last night while doing arm, I was sitting doing bicep curls when I noticed a dark blue circle forming on/under the skin on the front facing part of my right shoulder. Any ideas on what that can be? Think I am going to pop past the dr this afternoon, just concerned it a vein getting pinched and the blood is swelling in the vein every rep.

OK I see why you would think that...so the blue mark only appeared when I was at the top of the rep, squeezing the bicep. So when there it formed. When the reps ended it subsided

all aboard the gainz train, I've reached my 50kg goal on weighted dips I will now put these on maintenance and maybe try get 50 on pull ups

Since going to gym frequently I found myself getting sicker more often. The doctor mentioned something called a "window effect" where you are more susceptible in picking up colds/flu etc. Anyone here experienced it and how did you deal with it?

Working out puts your ENTIRE body under immense strain, your immune and nervous systems included (you're basically trying to break your body down to build it up again everytime you work out, after all). Only thing I can recommend is remembering to recover sufficiently (rest is an important part of the growth process - it's the only time the body repairs itself) and to include vitamin supplements in your stack (if you have one).

Proper sleep - you need more of it. It's the only way to prevent illness - let your body recover.

thanks guys, I've started with a vitamin supplement recently. Proper sleep though is a problem with my work load currently but I am hoping that it would improve in the next couple of weeks.

I am at gym twice a day during the weekdays (mornings and evenings), and I have not been sick in months. I eat really well though (lots of fruit and veg), and get around 9 hours sleep a night. Sometimes even 10. If you are training and dieting, you will get sicker more often though. Rather eat better foods than take supplements. You don't need to get all technical about it, just try eat more fresh foods that are colourful.

Looks like this guy knows his stuff. Chronic suffer of back pain.

Back pain is really the pits. Can't comment on these exercises. They look interesting. I may even incorporate some of them into my post running stretches. Have you tried Pilates? It's a core burner of note, and not hard to do at all. I usually enjoy the classes, and found that it strengthened up my entire core very quickly. I used to suffer with back pain, but since doing a lot more core work, it has thankfully gone away.

I have hit some of my targets
Weight - 78kg
Bench Press - 100kg
Deep squat - 100kg
Running between 8km and 15km on Saturdays

Just have protein shake as recovery after training.

What sort of workout are you doing at the gym? You have to listen to your body to gauge how much you can push yourself.

Awesome man!

out of curiosity, are you following a specific strength program (5X5's or something) or from daily training/lifting?
