The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Had my first meal tonight, i nuked it from frozen in the microwave which is not ideal. It was better than anything I can make, yes on the small side but sufficient for me (i weigh 61kg). Will see how it goes but I think I will be happy as it beats other concoctions or things I might buy for dinner :p

Disclaimer: Using eBucks to buy the meals at Dischem means I don't mind too much that it's expensive.

Are you male or female? How tall are you?

Hahaha. Ouch. You need to discover the joy of cooking. Glad you are ok with it. The veggie meals are really bad though. My single mates also love Fitchef for the convenience. I believe their brownies are amazing though.

Male, 1.67m short, and at 61kg that makes my BMI 22.23. Needless to say I'm of slim build with a bit of lean muscle. Good leg genetics aesthetically speaking, i mean I could skip leg day for the next 2 years only focusing on upper body and you might not know I was skipping leg day :p.

Hi

I hope you can assist.

I want to use http://www.bulksupplements.com

They do bulk supplements; bags, boxes and mostly in powder.

I want to buy D Ribose and in powder form, it's R200 per 200 mg compared to R400 for 200 mg in South Africa.

The R200/200mg is after allowances for shipping, TAX and VAT.

They ship to South Africa.

I want to know if you may have used them in the past and what your experience was regarding shipping time, and customs in general?

Thanks

Johan

^^Reccomend you ask in the suppliments thread: https://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/501094-Gym-Supplements

Odd. I did not expect no response as http://www.bulksupplements.com really have great rates for supplements. After shipping, VAT, TAX I can land stuff to SA at 50% of what it costs in our local supplement sores. "

I have been struggling with my squat lately. I don't know what went wrong but I suddenly found myself twisting to the left at the bottom of my squat which caused problems when driving back up as the weight would transfer to the toes on my left foot. Complete stuff up so I started doing some Googling and came across this video;

It was all in the breathing. He shows you how to breathe in order to keep your core rigid and that tightened everything up for me and pulled me straight at the bottom of my squat.

Do you lift the bar? Yes.

So then you include the bar weight.

Cool.

Now I just have to go weigh the bars, since at the gym there different sizes and weights of bars, or just have to try to stick to the same bar each time I lift.

if its an Olympic barbell it'll be 20kg

Hey! Crossfitter would klap them all then brag about it for the next 10 years. :crylaugh:

But yeh... loads of respect for Crossfit. Good balance of strength and fitness.

Been throwing in plyometric exercises with a lot of kettle bell training every other day in my weightlift program for about 3 months now. Works pretty well. Typically:

Mon: Chest and bicep training,
Tues: Kettle bells: swings, shoulder press and upright row combo. Box jumps
Wed: Deadlift and handstand combo, lats, triceps,
Thurs: Kettle bells: Swings and squad combos, box jumps and incline push up combo,,
Fri rest
Sat start the program again,

With the kettle bell and plyo days I keep to between 15 and 30 reps (never to failure) x 4 sets

Any pointers on blowing my calves up?

Or is my genetics dooming me?

I honestly believe this is a genetics thing.

I've given up on trying to get monster calves. I've tried everything from high rep, low rep, drop sets, rest pause, GVT. Some days I had to crawl out of the garage. Nope nothing.
They just won't seem to get bigger.

So now I am just focusing on at least getting some decent definition on the little bit I do actually have. So dropping BF% and doing high rep calve sets on both leg days.

Genetics is always a big deal but don't forget, the point of any exercise is being the best you. So you can always improve. What I've heard works really well is carrying dumbells or a barbell on the shoulders and walking backwards with exaggerated steps using your calves. Lots of it :)

Some good ideas here:

You can work calves almost every day without catabolic affect so go for it.
