The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

what do you guys think of something like strength wars? bodybuilders, powerlifters, calisthenics and strongmen battling it out for supremacy, ultimately were all just weight lifters here with different goals

I'd love to attend one of these

. I'm sure if the powerlifter went up against Kai Greene he would have lost by a mile. Then again, you get proper powerlifters like Eddie Hall who will make both of these guys feel very inferior.

You are probably one of those people that think steroids are a shortcut.

So why are you taking them if they're not exactly that?
Of course it's totally up to you what you do with your body IMO, but opinions will remain. For me it's nothing personal, I don't even know you guys.

I have never worried about the legality of any of the substance that go into my body, bodybuilding related or otherwise
Clearly you don't and I think everyone here realize that, I was actually referring to myself...

Hi Guys, here I come to jump in the middle with some silly questions, hopefully someone can help me.

I have been gyming for 6 months now (proper 3-4 times a week) and have seen some gains but not much, girlfriend says it is a lot but she kinda has too :D.

I am using NPL Elite Gainer shake for the past 2 weeks because I was loosing weight and also find it difficult to get enough protein, since I have started with the shake I have gained around 2KG but I doubt in muscle. I think my workout routine is probably the problem.

- Start each workout with 30min cardio, try and keep fit and fighting to rid of my asthma.
- Then, tricep extension machine: 32KG, 10 reps & 4 sets
- Bicep curl: 32KG 10 Reps & 4 sets.
- Chest press (machine): 30 KG 10 reps & 4 sets.
- Back (machine): 32KG 10 reps & 4 sets
- Weight bar: 20KG 10 reps & 4 sets
- Seated dumbells curls: 10KG 10 reps & 4 sets
- 40 push ups
- 60 sit ups (also 60 leg raises, leg scissor etc)
- Legs (I dont seem to have a problem with, seems like the cycling, running and machines work amazing for them)

What are your thoughts on the "More weight less reps" theory?

You can see everything is either free weights or the "circuit machines" as I haven't found the courage to go to the cool dudes section yet. My goal is just to have nice toned biceps and a good chest and belly.

I would appreciate any help and comments, good or bad. If there is anything else you would like to know please do ask.

So as you can see I posted this(Post 3575) on the 13th of June, which is more or a less a month and a half ago. Since then I have been working really hard and eating well i would think. I have picked up 4KG since then, is this average, below or above?

That is normal for a combination of more water/fat and less muscle. Especially since using a gainer shake. The calories on those are massive per normal serving. Muscle will take a lot longer for 4KG, especially natty and not using any illegal Vitamin S("hortcut") to get it..

Difficult to say. A lot of that weight could be water as you have increased your calories. My weight can fluctuate by 2kgs depending on my carb intake and my training intensity for the day. Incorporate measurements into your assessments as you shouldn't only rely on the scale. I do however weigh myself daily to see what my body is doing. Consistency is the key.

My 2c.

100% with the above. Measurements and also including fat %

I've remixed your workout not enough compound movements, you're gonna have to come to the cool dudes section eventually :D

Start each workout with 30min cardio, try and keep fit and fighting to rid of my asthma.
chest
- bench press (Barbell/dumbell or nothing):
- Dip (weighted or high rep bodyweight)
- 40 push ups

back
- Deadlift
- Barbell Row (overhand or underhand)
- pullups/ chin ups
- cable Pulldown(neutral, overhand, or underhand grip)

shoulders
Overhead Press (barbell or dumbbell)
Dumbbell Arnold Press
Dumbbell Lateral Raise

keep these as accessory exercises
- tricep extension: 32KG, 10 reps & 4 sets
- Bicep curl: 32KG 10 Reps & 4 sets.
- Seated dumbells curls: 10KG 10 reps & 4 sets
- skullcrushers

core
- 60 sit ups (I would just cut the reps and add weight)
- hanging leg raises
- cable Crunch
-mountain climbers

Hey! Crossfitter would klap them all then brag about it for the next 10 years. :crylaugh:

But yeh... loads of respect for Crossfit. Good balance of strength and fitness.

Where are the giant / drop / super sets?

I'm on blood pressure medicine, that's the most important reason. Other than that, I'm really not into bodybuilding, I do not like the tough exercise/diet/sleep/rest/cutting and bulking cycles. I do not like the look of a bodybuilder. I am big to start off with, so no need. I am also strong, so no need (280kg deadlift, 230kg squat, 160kg bench..yeah that one is lame, i know :o :p). I do not compete and am not interested in competing, so I don't feel the need to waste money on roids and supplements.

the crossfitter might lose if he does crossfit style kipping reps :D

Terrible. Too few calories and the food was horrible. It's awesome if you want an easy and expensive way to crash diet.

The meals were around 1,200 calories (5000kj) per day. That is a crash diet for anyone imo. It was soul destroying. Would rather make the time and make proper food.

Had my first meal tonight, i nuked it from frozen in the microwave which is not ideal. It was better than anything I can make, yes on the small side but sufficient for me (i weigh 61kg). Will see how it goes but I think I will be happy as it beats other concoctions or things I might buy for dinner :p

Disclaimer: Using eBucks to buy the meals at Dischem means I don't mind too much that it's expensive.
