The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

I doubt Creatine would detract from losing fat. What it can do AFAIK is increase fluid to the cells which may have an effect on size or weight but certainly not fat.

Do you guys ever cut and feel like you look leaner but the scale hasn't really budged?

Pretty much why I stopped weighing myself.

Now I just go on how I feel, look in the mirror and how my clothes fit.

I don't really like oats. I can tolerate them. They are however easy to get down early in the morning. I really battle to eat before my long training sessions (like around 5am), and fruit / runny oats are the only thing I can stomach. Found my new favourite breakfast. I made Woolworths rolled oats, with brown sugar, cinnamon, milk and almonds. Was super nice. If you are cutting, careful with the almonds.

I see a few people mention using MyFitnessPal to track all the nutrients you get in everyday. Do you set it up a different way or do you just insert your goal weight and add everything you eat/drink the whole day?

I set my targets up manually. MyFP grossly overestimates needs.

Go to a few online TDEE calculators. Enter your details and take the average from those results as your targets you enter into MyFP. Can tweak macros % as well if you want.

So I used some sites, they say my needed energy intake is around 2600 per day, where as MyFP says 7782!!

Have you tried cream of rice? It's probably the fastest digesting "solid" food you can eat. I eat it daily pre-workout, it clears the stomach within 30-45 minutes.

My recipe:

50g white rice flour (I use the Kwality brand from Dischem, R25 for 1kg)
20g natural peanut butter
Few cracks of pink salt
400ml boiling water

Add ingredients in a microwavable container and use a whisk to mix. Microwave for a few minutes. Keep an eye on the mixture, with the addition of the PB and the salt it shouldn't bubble over (trust me, I've perfected this recipe and the amounts of ingredients). Take out of micro and stir/whisk every few minutes. Cook for a total of around 4 minutes.

Once cooked, I add 30g of USN whey protein, flavour of my preference. Either eat hot or put in the fridge overnight for the most amazing cold porridge. I made 2 days worth a time, it stores really well in the fridge. Also it sets into a nice solidish consitency in the fridge, meaning you can eat literally every little morsel of it with a spoon.

I'll have this everyday an hour before I plan on lifting. I safely have it first thing on a Sunday morning 60-90 minutes before I train legs and have zero stomach discomfort because of the fast digestion rate. During the week and Saturdays it's eaten later in the day and also causes zero issues.

Macros (based on above ingredient measurements):
C - 46
P - 30
F - 11
416 Cals

I enter in my target calories into MyFitnessPal. I got my daily targets (calories and macros) from a sports nutritionist. You can easily figure it out using a TDEE calculator though if you are not training for extremes. The app does not do a bad job of calculating your calories though, so not sure how you got to 7782 calories. Are you sure it is not showing kilojules? That would sound about right for someone (who is small) on a diet (around 1800 calories). I work with kj as everything in SA has kj values on it.

Sounds really nice. Will give it a try.

In the States it comes as an actual cereal product:

Locally we get this product, which is R45 for 500g (R90/kg).

The rice flour I use is exactly the same thing, except that it's slightly finer. All of these products are 100% rice ground up, the flour just being slightly finer. I pay R25 for 1kg of the flour at Dischem, it's a no brainer!

It's a staple in a lot of bodybuilding diets.

Very interesting. My biggest issue when doing long training sessions on my bike (3 hours up) is staying on top of the caloric demand. Because this clears so quickly, it can top up glycogen stores after sleeping very quickly. This is actually a great "pre-work out" imo. Also seems like a cheap way to bulk.

Do you have to cook the cream of rice? I make a shake consisting of

1 cup oats (dry)
1 spoon peanut butter
2 scoops myprotein whey protein
2 scoops myprotein instant oats
1 banana
2 cups milk

I blend this without cooking the oats so can I replace the oats with this rice?

Made many an overnight oats consol jar with similar recipes.

May I ask why you add 2 different oats?

I bought a lot of the myprotein oats so need to use it before it expires
Edit: When I don't use normal oats I get hungry too quickly
