The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Is it normal when doing incline dumbbell press to feel most of the work coming from your delts?

I understand that your delts and triceps should receive some secondary work, but my delts feel like they are going to explode when doing this and not my chest.

Lower the bar onto your nipples. Perhaps you're keeping the bar too close to your head.

CAN I SUGGEST EVERYONE DEADLIFT WITH A HEX BAR AT LEAST ONCE?

SAVE YOUR BACK AND KNEES. Look at YouTube vids, it's seriously under valued. kxthx

always wanted to try these but my gym doesn't have specialist bars, best alternative I found was neutral grip dumbbell deadlift from two boxes or hack squats

I am sure everyone here would if they were readily available.

What are you aiming for in your diet?

To be honest. Just consistency.

I mainly stick to keto/low carb because it is when I feel best in and out of the gym. Also the reason I lost more than 30kg before I ever lifted a weight. Since I started working out (home garage gym) I've aimed to gain more muscle mass but fear of getting fat again has always been holding me back slightly.

Also more of a challenge working out on my own without a partner/spotter. I feel that I never push myself hard enough because of the fear of injury and failure. Which might just be a good thing in the long run.
I've had to do the roll of shame a few times while benching and over the years once or twice had to drop a fully loaded squat bar because of failure. Luckily no serious injuries yet. Ego doesn't count. :D

But my main goal for now is to drop another 5kg or so to get back my 6-pack and then try the slow lean gain bulk again.

It doesn't help that I'm heading closer to 40 now and only started so late in life. But I always love when I prove myself wrong.

But as stated. A good ice cream with the kids always goes down nicely. My kryptonite is a Kahlua Dom Pedro.

Try bringing your elbows alil down closer to your lats....the more flared out your elbows the more you will feel it in your delts.
Also if your priority is your chest make sure the bench isn't angled up to high.
The more upright you are the more delt activation....so Try a 35 degree angle instead of 45 degree

What shoes do you guys use for squats..deadlifts etc?
Usually flattest shoe I can find with good grip. Previously a pair of Levi's and then when that got chewed through now a pair of black converse high tops.

Cheers, will try both of these out during my next session.

I started cutting last week and my deficit is around 1800 calories.

I've lost a kg when I weighed myself this morning so my cardio, nutrition etc is working for me however today I might have went over my deficit because it's a Saturday. Will this affect my deficit/weight loss?...

Also is it okay to make Saturday a cheat day every week? I just feel I can be super strict on weekdays but on Saturday it's alil tough lol.

It all really depends on how much over your deficit you went.....was it above or under maintenance! And by how much.
If it was around maintenance I wouldn't worry much or at all for that matter. Even if its abit over it's just one day it won't kill your results alltogether! However it can slow down ongoing progress...it all really depends on how much over you went....or go infuture. I'd say if you decide on going with a cheat day still keep score on your calories and go maintenance. Atleast that way you would know you not gaining back any weight (hopefully fat weight) that you been working hard to lose.
Have you considered intermittent fasting ?

I'm considering a new workout shoe. Iv only ever worked out in either converse or barefoot as I often workout at home.
I'm thinking of getting either the metcon 4 or nano 7. I read the 7s are good shoes for strictly lifting. So I'm torn between these two....any one tried these shoes out?

Might be worth looking at Inov-8. They also have a full range of lifting shoes. I'll probably end up going back to Inov-8 when I need a new pair of shoes. You'll probably save a couple hundred bucks over the Metcon's and Nano's.

Thanks, Definitely under maintenance so i guess I won't have cheat days but rather be more strict now. I haven't considered that. Has it worked for you?

One more question, today I weighed myself and I see that I'm back at my current weight even though yesterday it had showed I lost a kg.

I've been working hard at it so this can't be right. I'm assuming the digital scale could have its issues, like maybe it's not the true reflection.
