The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

OK... I have a hypothetical question. Say I was thinking of doing a cycle or 2 to help me bulk up a bit. What are my options?
I train at home, so there is no one I can chat to at a gym and I don't particularly want to go to the local supp store and ask the guy there too many questions.
I am 1.95m tall and currently 95kg. I only picked up 5kg during a winter bulk

Is that 5kg of muscle?

Hi all, I've recently started taking Evox's BCAA Stack but was hoping to find a more affordable BCAA alternative. Any recommendations?

Hope this helps!

BCAA's are most effective intra workout or as a drink during the gaps inbetween your meals to keep you anabolic so yes as a post workout it can be used but thats not the most effective way. Try SupplementsSA BCAA's its like R130 from Game has some HMB in it too. Thats the similar stuff in Muscletech Clearmuscle. You may get some gains.

Better to go with a Whey protein isolate protein powder and a bit of simple carbs directly after your workouts for the soreness with some added L- Glutamine for post workout recovery.

BCAA's also good if you doing fasted cardio to prevent muscle breakdown and loss o

just come train with me we will push hard bro, no juicing.

you sound like a pretty big boy already.

Thanks for the offer dude. I actually wouldn't mind a training partner, but I doubt you in the East rand?

Nope, not big at all... My wife says I'm still skinny, but I can see some muscle development.
I was considering changing to a cut, to try get my body fat down, but I think I am going to continue bulking throughout the summer.
I just have to force myself to eat more. I know I have to eat big to get bigger... but it's all just words when I feel full and bloated all the time!

ok so I have been doing weight training and man oh man I have been doing it so so so wrong.... the muscle training I am doing is good, as its with someone who knows what they are doing but my FOOD... MY FOOD is all wrong.

I would say typically I eat about +- 2600 Calories a day. I've done some research and tried a bunch of calculators and that is WAAAAY too little for someone my size (1.88/90kg) trying to bulk up. According to what I am reading I need no less than 3500 Calories a day.

Did you use a calculator that takes body fat into consideration?

If you want to build muscle and lose fat you need to eat according to lean muscle mass. Not total body weight.

But what are your workouts like?
Until recently I was following a strength program, 4-6 rep range. For the last two weeks I changed to a more hypertrophic routine in the 8-10 rep range.
I try to keep it pretty intense, and rest periods are a lot shorter than when I was doing strength.

Please train like this for months (even years) before you consider roids.

I did not no. I would appreciate if you could point me in the direction of one that takes body fat into account?

I will have to get my body fat percentage measured as well.

Edit : thanks for the tip

I am still learning a lot, so thank you for any replies. I'm getting to grips with all the different protein shakes and supplements, when to take them etc etc.

The only shake I have right now is Evox Synergy Whey Protein. I have this straight after workout, and before bed. Two things I have learnt is that I need to have a shake with more carbs in it. This one is VERY low carbs, mostly protein. The other thing Ive learnt is that whey protein just before bed is dumb. Need something more like Casein (?) in cottage cheese before bed.

Hi guys. As per my post above would someone be able to point me in the right direction? I have a few questions below bearing in mind I'm trying to bulk up and that I have been eating wrong and taking the wrong shake.

Do I need to change my shake that I use to include carbs as well or can I carry on using the current one? It's a post workout shake only?

The evox BCAA's are quite expensive! How important is it that I take these? I've read that you drink them during training.

I've read to add dextrose and glutamine to the same workout drink?

Sorry for all the questions there is so much out there I just need some guidance from people who are experienced.

stop being so worried about what supplements you take, even forget them for now.

if you are short on your calorie intake a day change the synergy out for 5xl muscle meal, drink it 2 hours before training if you train after work, or take it after if you train in the morning. Otherwise add a table spoon of peanut butter and some raw oats to your synergy shake or drink it with full cream milk. or both.
