The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Since I haven't been going to gym for the last few years I have noticed something interesting today. Do people no longer use gym towels when working out..? Yesterday I saw more than half of people training without them and this definitely wasn't always the case.

I also see it.

I use a towel religiously. I've got 5 that I use week days and then on weekends I wash the lot.

Noticed this at Virgin yesterday.

I also use a towel religiously in fact I use an actual full om towel :D:D:sly:

Ok thank goodness thought I was going insane. On that note I find it fscking disgusting that people can't be arsed to take something with to absorb their sweat off the machines and equipment.

That and the fact that people still seem incapable of packing away their weights after having trained with them. It's part of the exercise you fools...!

Anybody know where I can buy Cottage Cheese in sizes bigger than the 230/250g all retailers sell them in?

Looking for 1kg tubs preferably.

You'll probably need to find a catering supply place of some description.

Have you tried Makro?

Does anyone get heart palpitations from protein shakes?

Explanation: the last few weeks, sometimes I will feel my heart racing for a few beats and then going back to normal. Really unpleasant and worrying feeling. Doesn't happen the whole day, I suppose more when I am at rest. Also doesn't seem to cause shortness of breath or unusual tiredness. I remember having similar symptoms while taking sinus medication like Sinutab, which has phenylalanine in it. The whey powder that I use has phenylalanine in it, which made me suspect that is the cause. Now I should note, phenylalanine is an essential amino acid, and almost all animal protein contains it. My hypothesis is that consuming whey protein in such large amounts means I have been getting more phenylalanine than I can tolerate.

Anyway, I had my last protein shake on Friday and I still had heart palpitations last night. Admittedly, they seemed less severe than normal. I will see if I have any tonight.

No I'm not on any gear or any other banned substances, nor am I using stimulants (other than caffeine) or any weight loss medications or supplements that interfere with your metabolism.

Never experienced that before no. Just keep an eye on it and seek medical attention if it doesn't get better. The heart is not something to fark around with.

Closest I came to those symptoms was when I sampled clen way back. That stuff made me look like Michael J Fox.

By the way. Found Cottage Cheese in bulk for R40/kg but it is quite a trip so the travel (Rayton) will not be worth the effort.

Will stick to 250g tubs until I can find closer supplier.

You wouldn't happen to train at Viva gym in Fourways? All of a sudden nobody uses towels and the packing away of weights has become voluntary.

I took a lot of protein shakes last year without any issues, but yeah, ideally I'd like to move away from them. Hence why I haven't had one since Friday, I want to change one variable in my diet and see what happens.

I've been off supplements [protein] the last 2 months now. I've increased my chicken and sweet potato consumption slightly.

I honestly feel better for it. No loss of gains haha.

I still do a banana, whey and casein pudding sludge mix every so often though. Satisfies my sweet craving and is very filling before bed.

Why the sweet potato? That reminds me, I have some partially cooked sweet potato in the fridge.

Just seems weird because sweet potatoes are pretty high in carbs, a lot higher than whey protein is.

Not that they cannot fit into a healthy diet, just an odd replacement for whey protein.
