The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Splitting up Cardio and Lifting is a good idea in general. What are you aiming to achieve?

EDIT: Fasted cardio also tends to be more effective so the morning would be a good time to get it in. If you are a coffee drinker consider using it to improve mental focus and lead to a bit higher fat loss

Awesome, Just wanting to cut a bit more, lose another 5 - 6kgs.

I am already quite big.

I do indeed drink coffee.

Awesome, this will definitely help.

I'm sure you know this already but just in case: Make sure you are in a calorie deficit, that's the most important requirement for (and worst part of) a cut.

Good luck :D

EDIT: what is your cardio of choice BTW?

Thanks bud, I have always struggled with diet...

Been asking some mates that compete for their input on a VERY light/easy to follow diet.

Have no issue cutting out sugars, etc. just need it to be relatively easy to prepare for.

1 question for anybody that has cut out sugar from his/her diet, have you noticed a change in your mood at all? Like grumpy, low energy and feeling exhausted at times?

This goes away, your body is essentially addicted sugar. Once it gets over the withdrawals you will be happier, healthier and more energetic.

I get what you saying, and that was my expectation as well... But it's been nearly 5 months that i've cut sugar out of my diet, (with the exception of 1 teaspoon brown sugar in my coffee in the AM, and 1 teaspoon in my Oats also in the AM) and yet i have days when i feel like i can barely catch my breath in the afternoon after i've been to gym, and some days (mostly Saturdays and Sundays - Rest days) i feel like crap, like i just have no LISS (for lack of a better word) i dont feel for anything or anyone!

Might not be sugar related tbh. Perhaps chemical imbalance, that sugar was "helping" seeing as things like chocolate, etc. give off that happy hormone in the brain.

Just guessing here.

I dont know? I hope its not chemical imbalance. Ill just wait and see, if it starts getting extreme, i think i will change my diet again.

Is this the right place to ask about IFBB Bikini body competition prep (aiming for next year only). Couldn't find a bikini body thread...?

Basically been doing medium to heavy lifting for the last 2-3 years. So I have strength and good gym commitment but I need to trim down, following this workout starting at phase 2 http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/jamie-easons-livefit-phase-2.html

My diet is pretty good now, don't eat junk food or takeout etc. Cook my own meals every day so I know what I eat.

I hated cardio so I never did it, starting this week with 30 mins per workout as followed in the above link.

Help in the right direction would be appreciated.

I reckon a pic is necessary for us to assist you.

Perhaps some of the guys will be able to assist, I look terrible in a bikini so not sure how much help i'll be.

I would suggest just sticking to your diet and adjusting it as you go along and lose fat/build muscle.

I also hate cardio but recently put a bit more effort into it as my fat loss stalled. Been losing well again.

HIIT is wonderful and I think it will be a good addition for you for a bikini body look. It is intense but it is over so much quicker. I get bored out of my mind if I need to do anything longer than 25min.

Had the same problem, Now that I do an hour cycle every morning, I toss an episode of a series I am watching on my phone and watch that while I cycle :P

I was planning to take one this weekend to see my progression

Yeah I agree, I trained HIIT for a few months but my diet was bad then so didn't really see a change. And I lost strength so I got a bit demotivated.

Not a bad idea actually! I just need to keep the intensity up

What I do is set the bike to display RPM, and keep my RPMs at around the 120 mark on lvl6 intensity.

Works well. Then when I go in the evenings to do weights I do 10 minutes HIIT cycling so 30 seconds at 12 as fast as I can pedal, then 30 seconds at 6 keeping RPM above 9. Do that for 10 minutes to get the blood flowing.

Guys need some input. Haven't bought any supps in many many moons. Want to buy some creatine (probably CEE). Any recommendations...?
