Exactly, my problem with both of them is the lack of communication.

Because they don't bother letting me know whats going on, and when I can expect my order - I end up having to use supplementworld anyway, so I end up spending a ton on products and eventually, a huge stock pile... after my last order from BSSA, I ended up with 4kg of whey from them (after waiting more than a month), and 4kg of whey from supplementworld. And this is the second time that has happened.

If they said up front, its going to take 6 weeks - I can plan around that, but saying "next week" every week doesn't work - and Janet ignoring emails continually just leaves a bad taste in everyone's mouth.

If they jacked up their service, and were upfront with status it wouldn't be such a problem - if I know to expect delivery in 6 weeks, I can order accordingly, but not knowing?

Looking at carforums, there's someone who is still waiting for an order from May.

Paying R230 isn't worth it for me any-more if I have to wait so long.

I think you need to set for yourself a few goals.

My first goal was to reach bodyweight on specific exercises.

Second goal, will be to put on muscle, this will help with a combination of eating the correct food and doing exercises. I am not sure if your goal is to look better or put on muscle, but either way, I think first aiming for strength and then changing your goals after to bodybuilding is the way to go.

Either way, I think you should aim for a body-weight of 65kg. Please don't go do it overnight, do it over a period of 6-12 months, maybe more, gaining 20kg IS A LOT, and you want to prevent stretch marks on your skin, so over time is always good.

So try to aim for this (my opinion):
Squat: 50-60kg
Deadlift: 70-80kg (I personally think you should aim higher, but lets make it do-able at first, 90kg felt heavy to me 1st time)
Bench Press: 40kg
Overhead Press: 25-30kg

While you are still lightweight, try and see how many pull-ups/chins/dips you can do, should be easier at low body weight, gets progressively harder as you gain weight, BUT then again you should gain strength/muscle with the body-weight.

Now don't try and do these right of the bat, I started with the olympic bar alone (The bar alone is 20kg, always include it as part of the weight that you are lifting, after all, you are lifting the bar too), and progressively went till I met my 1st goals.

Again, I must emphasize, don't aim for the above tomorrow or next week, aim for them after a year or so, you first have to start with the bar, and learn the correct technique/form of the exercises, else you will end up hurting yourself, which is almost a bigger show stopper than not wanting to go.

If you want a excel sheet with a program that works out the weight for every gym day, I personally believe Stronglifts 5x5 is a super good program for a beginner, I personally used it. The alternative is Starting Strength, but I am glad I started with Stronglifts. Both are equally good however.

Stronglifts 5x5: http://stronglifts.com/stronglifts-5x5-beginner-strength-training-program/
If you don't want him to email you, gets a bit much, export from my google docs:
SL 5x5

Starting Strenght:
This one requires you to buy a book, but the excel sheet is here: Link
They have a wiki that explains the programs in a tiny bit of detail: http://startingstrength.wikia.com/wiki/The_Starting_Strength_Novice/Beginner_Programs

Thanks! :)

How long do supplement world take to deliver?

Looking on another forum - BSSA are still having stock/finance problems.

Looks like their service is going in the same direaction as basicsupplements.co.za, guess I'll stick with supplement world and Dischem.

Comparing prices, I don't think buying raw is worth the headaches.

Still no replies on any mails.

Dear All

Some of our clients have received their chocolate isolate. Unfortunately I could not send all the orders. The first batch of chocolate isolate are finished.
I am waiting on the next batch, as well as the other stock.

The reason why I haven’t received it, is because I could not do the final payments yet. Some of the stock will be released this week, for I get an amount released from the credit cards. I just want to explain this situation again.

We get eft, paypal and credit card payments. The most payments are still credit card payments. First, you need to know, that we really appreciate every order, no matter which payment method. Some people that pay via EFT, does not understand why the situation with the credit card system affects them – but it does.

Because I order large quantities, I need a large amount of capital – which are unfortunately mostly caught up in the credit cards. And what happens with the credit card, every time someone places an order with the ccard, it takes
About 4 weeks from date of order placed to release 85% of that amount. So I don’t even get all the credit card payments at once. Then 10% of these payments, I only get 3 months later, from date of order placed. So once again, not everything at once. It just makes it a bit more difficult to pay stock at once. And, 10% over 3 months doesn’t sound that much, but it makes quite a difference to the total.

I will let you know, once stock is arriving. I can not tell exactly when. Like I said, some of the stock will be released this week, after I got paid from the credit cards.

Our aim is good service at low prices. But the money situation is biting us in the butt at this stage.

Thank you for your valued support and patience.

Kind Regards
Janet

Update from BSSA

@xrapidx a few months ago you insisted I rather buy my sups from bssa. Good thing I didn't listen. :D

There service (and product) was good :( They didn't just ignore paying customers. Its a pity, this sort of thing makes or breaks a business.

What makes it worse is I've recommended them to friends, and people in the gym.. now I'm getting hounded by these people as well :(

Bssa really need to investigate other credit card payment mechanisms, surely this situation can't be normal?? Was great before those cc payments started.

I feel for you buddy. You were just doing a solid for a fellow forum member by recommending.

Can any one recommend a program that i can follow, needs to be for home gyming, currently got dumb bells and a pull up bar.
Have been following a program 3 times a week that i got from mens fitness :D for the last 8 weeks.

I have been thinking of spending 3 days a week gyming specific muscles now,I water-ski most weekends, and then run or play tennis for a bit of cardio in between.

Monday - Legs and core. Wednesday - Shoulders Arms Sprints for cardio. Thursday- Sprints for cardio. Friday - Back & Chest. Saturday, Sunday Skiing

Coming from someone who is also forced to gym from Home, I would for starters buy more free weights, GAME has been the cheapest I have found, maybe check Gumtree as well, my Dad bought over 2tons of weights in 1990 for R400 :) , I built my own Dip machine out of steel, bought a cable "gym" machine from Game for triceps, lats, pec dec etc.
It wasn't supposed to come with standalone bench but when I got home after they delivered there was a bench :)

For home gym I would choose the full body Olympic type lifts like squat, dead-lift and of course bench press and military press.

Requires some investment but it is your health, luckily I have a 4 car garage so have plenty of space, gymming from home requires plenty dedication as in a Gym you have plenty motivation to work harder, at least at home I can blare the Metallica and get amped.

Wife thinks I'm obsessed, I tell her Obsessed is what lazy people call the Dedicated.

Depends on what your goals are, you looking to maintain what you have, gain muscle or get fitter, you have plenty cardio in your workout routine.
also how many sets, reps and what exercises you do are important.
Diet also plays a HUGE role.
