Well...we need to understand what natty means. Using clen or FFF or C3Y ain't exactly putting you in unnatural catagory because they aren't anabolic steriods. Clen, being the most popular, is a drug used to treat and assist asthma patients.

However looking at his pics...given the right lighting a flex. Yup I'd say it's possible to do natty. But whether he is or not...meh. Well done to him for making the change!

If it was with PED's...hope he just used responsibly.

I don't read the /sterons general so no idea of the differences in products, creatine is considered by most as natty so I use it, if it isn't considered natty then I guess I'm on the lowest level of gear :D

Haha. I did pretty extensive research into steriods, pct's and products. Always was an interest of mine and so I educated myself. Other than some new unclassified [as yet anyway]pro hormones, the stuff you buy from supp shops are not considered AAS :P

You still a natty 'brah' :P

Am I using my supplements correctly?

On workout days I take 2.5g of creatine and 5g of Glutamine with water as a pre-workout. After the workout I drink my whey protein shake with another 2.5g creatine and 5g glutamine.

On rest days I only take the 5g creatine. If I remember, it is in the morning when I wake up otherwise I take it when I get home from work.

Is this okay? Or should I be taking glutamine and whey on my off days too? Should I be drinking whey in the mornings after a workout?

TIA

From the little I know that seems about correct, I also got glutamine in a combo deal, but research/reading shows the consensus is it doesn't work, my DOMS don't hurt as bad while using it but then again your muscles get used to the stress. . .

Currently I take whey in my shake with oats and a banana with the glutamine then drink my pwo with creatine mono with a flax seed oil pill, heard it is good for you so why not :D

Are the omega 3's in flax seed oil different to the omega 3's found in fatty fish? Should one take both or only one of them?

You should ideally take creation monohydrate with fruit juice or something to act as a delivery system for the creatine. Your body won't metabolise creatine on its own. However, if you are using a tub of HMB creatine or similar, they have a built-in transport system, so there is no need to worry.

Some might argue that glutamine before a workout isn't ideal, but the more the merrier I guess.

As for the whey protein, immediately after your workout is spot on. Drink your creatine and protein Ideally within about 30 min of finishing, before your muscles go catabolic.

Thanks for the reply. I did read that it should be taken with juice but I am on a pretty strict LCHF diet and it is not allowed.

Are you saying that if I take it with water only it does not get absorbed by my body?

I might just try the creatine only with like 100ml of Apple juice if that'll help.

Re the post workout shake. I take that (creatine, whey, glutamine) like 2min after I finish my workout so all is good there. But again it is only mixed with water. Is that okay?

Yes. You are wasting your creatine mono with only water. You need something with calories in your stomach at the time, ideally liquid because your body doesn't need to work hard to metabolise it. The creatine powder can then mix itself up with the stuff in your stomach and get absorbed by your body.

Drinking whey is like eating predigested food. Your body treats it as such, so water is perfect.

You are not completely wasting you creatine.
The point of creatine is to get to a saturated level and then maintain. There's no added benefits to mixing it with certain drinks to "spike insulin". It's the same reason why it doesn't matter what time of the day you take it either. Your body won't secrete the creatine just because you didn't take it at a certain in a certain way.
Is there a benefit to spiking insulin when taking creatine? Maybe, but then you can also take it with a protein shake instead of juice if that fits your lifestyle better.

Same with peri workout nutrition, you won't lose all your gains just because you don't get a protein shake within 5 minutes of your last rep.
Great study http://www.jissn.com/content/10/1/5
Summary:
You pre and post workout meal should nit be separated by more than approximately 3-4 hours, with a training sessions of about 45-90 minutes.
If protein is delivered with a large mixed meal, a case can be made for lengthening the interval to 5-6 hours.

Glutamine supplementation also hasn't been proven to enhance muscle building in healthy people. Only those suffering from physical trauma or suffering from diseases where muscle wasting occurs is glutamine effective at building muscle or preventing a decrease in muscle mass.
Edit: Or people that engage in long cardiovascular workouts.
Yes you can supplement, not saying it's 100% useless but the effects are not as significant as people make it out to be, that's all.

One of many studies on glutamine

Regarding creatine, if I don't gain weight from taking it, is that an indication that it doesn't work on me?

Your diet will play a bigger role in gaining lean muscle mass, but as long as your diet is good, then the creatine will help with muscle strength and endurance, which will help with gains.

Well that's my noob understanding, so I'm also keen to hear.

You don't need an insulin spike for effective creatine delivery. It also does not need to be cycled, front loaded etc.

Just google creatine myths and truths and go read the studies done on this supplement.

Most pre workouts will contain some form of carbohydrate, but not anywhere near the quantity required for an adequate spike.

Tests do show that marginal...and I stress this word...MARGINAL imorovement in creatine absorption does occur when taken with simple carbs in excess of 100g. So basically down your creatine with 100g of pure sugar for slightly better uptake? No thanks.

Drink that mono with water, add it to your breakfast or pwo. It's all good. Creatine saturates the cells. It does not matter when you take it as long as you take it daily so the levels are kept stable.
