I also use it for shoulder press and reverse-grip rows.

I would like to get started with bodybuilding, and have finally read through this entire thread. From what I've read, diet is as important as an exercise programme.
I have done some research on what diet to follow as a starter, I read about easing into it. I can start the diet asap, I don't feel the need to "ease" into it, have done it before so can do it again. Now, my question here is, what diet to follow. I have found a couple of interesting ones on the internet here and here so far.
What I will have to ease into is the gym/exercise programme, as I haven't been to gym for a couple of years. Someone posted a link to a sample 3-day programme on USN's website, which I like the look of, and will suite my schedule as not only work full-time, but also study part-time.
Will either look at joining a small private gym, or use my Vitality and renew my Virgin Active membership. I live in Centurion so recommendations here are welcome.
Now on to supplements, do I need them to start off with, or would I only have to look at them later?. My budget is not huge, but I do need to know what would be required to plan to fit them in. Same goes for the diet.
Comments/suggestions welcome and appreciated!.

Remember: without the 'roids, you can forget to look even close to the guys on the protein shake container labels![]()
If you're not into the 'look at me' body image then for beginner programs, these are pretty good;

Starting Strength

Thanks for those links. The StrongLifts link interests me the most.
Both are designed for purely strength training and won't give you that perfect ripped beach body but you'll be able to pick up those posers with one hand after a while.
Lol, don't know if I want to take it that far yet, let me just get started first and see!![]()
I'm not going that route either, but then again I'm not into body building. I hate that water balloon-with-veins lookThen I'm on high blood pressure medication as well, so it's a definite no-no.
I agree with you there, just want to look good, not like He-Man or something, atm.
Have been reading the SL (StrongLifts, not SecondLife) 5X5 ebook, the most challenging bit is the diet. Would it be practical to use a meal replacement shake on occasions?. Also, it is said on the SL forum that if you follow the diet as recommended, you can fall off the wagon, so to speak, up to four times a week. Really?. I am trying to make a meal plan according to their guidelines, but at the same time isn't boring.
Plan on starting this on Monday, provided I can get my gym membership reactivated.
