So food isn't a recommendation?

You obviously don't take this seriously, so good luck going nowhere.

Mate, listen here, you came here and said supps are crap eat food.

How about you give m e some specifics, what foods what quanitities. oh is it maybe cause ur just trolling the thread with useless posts to get your post count up?

And my god you must be the friendliest person ive ever had the pleasure of meeting, maybe you should take all that extra testosterone and go to gym instead of flaming me.

Agreed. All mass gainers are just a bunch of empty carbs- leave it. Get yourself a good protein (not Evox) and be sure to take in 6 decent servings of protein (EDIT: FOOD PROTEINS I MEAN )each day, or substitute two of them with your shake.

Thanks man, whats wrong with evox, any other decently priced local brands that sell good quality protein?

Do deadlifts first...then other exercises... And yes, improper form is dangerous, I always have someone watching me from a aroun 150kg and up.

I found this guide made a huge difference to what I could deadlift - I was always starting with my shins touching the bar, which puts more strain on your back : http://stronglifts.com/how-to-deadlift-with-proper-technique/

I don't like that guide. Firstly, your feet should be closer to the bar than having it over the middle of your feet. Secondly, an overhand grip is not an option for all but the most hardcore Olympic weightlifters. Alternate grip is much better. Thirdly, shoulders should be as far back as possible and not in front of the bar. Fourth, the bar should not roll over your knees and thighs.

Granted, maybe the guide is not a bad start for a novice but if I recall correctly you've got a considerably bigger deadlift than the author with his 225kg. If anything, you should be teaching him, not the other way round. :)

Yes.. I'm all about post count - and no - I didn't say supplements are crap - I said they're SUPPLEMENTS.

And by the looks of it - I'm not the one who needs to hit the gym.

Yeh - its not ideal - but its a good start... and pointed me in the right direction to get comfortable with heavy weights... and speaking of which, I still don't see many people doing deadlifts in the gym, and when they do, its usually less than 100kg.

I initially started with my shins just about touching the bar when standing up, which obviously put my shoulders far over the bar when getting in the "start" position.

And I agree on alternate grip - there's no way I'd be able to do a overhand grip after 150kg for reps... been thinking of trying a hook grip - but at the moment I'm happy with alternative.

hahaha so ur being helpful by telling me supplements are supplements, well gym is clearly your strong point.
Cause judging from your posts your IQ must be quite low.

An American acquaintance of mine pulls a 402.5kg deadlift using an overhand grip! He does come from a weightlifting background, though, and weightlifters use that grip. You should see that guys thumb nails. They are almost completely destroyed from all the pressure and burst blood vessels.

I don't think you're going to last very long over here. Only a handful of posts and already throwing around personal insults.

Its obviously enough to understand the very basic concept of nutrition. Good-luck figuring that tough one out ;) I'll give you a hint, lettuce is not a protein.

Hook grip though, With your thumb under your other fingers? OR straight overhand? There's no ways for me, my palms get sweaty fast, and when I try go for high reps, I just start loosing grip at around 6-7 reps with chalk. Overhand my body gives out before my grip. My fiancee now joins me on deadlift days, its the only day she still does weights - its her favourite exercise, currently she can do 75 for 2, tried 80 - but her knee gave in :p Actually, I think that's more than most of the guys in VA.

I wouldn't be surprised if my skinny brother could manage to hold on to 400kg, he's big into rock climbing.

Ja, hook grip, obviously. That's a mean deadlift for your chick, too! If only more women knew what an incredible shaping exercise the deadlift is.

Yeh - she's a jogger... so has great legs :p Just broke 30 yrs - and not a drop of cellulite. I also need her there on deadlifts to make sure my form stays in check - have a back injury from many years ago, and don't want to damage it again.

I showed her an online profile of another woman doing 100kg for reps... so now that's her target.

One mistake I was making would be not eating enough natural fats

Yeh, my current diet is calculated on protein and fat, and then make up the difference in carbs.

Works out to a split of the following (based on calories) - its been working, so I'll keep at it for now.
P: 38.11%
C: 28.07%
F: 33.83%

I am avoiding carbs for now, just doing basic workouts. Workout 1 would be core, glutes and hamstring, upper back, quads and chest and then for the other workout (after one days rest) I swap chest for shoulders and upper back for lats
