just eat more, your metabolism will follow.

Trying. Been forcing down food for months (gained 3-4kg in the last 6 months), but was having a small breakfast. Decided to increase that with the oats last week and now every meal is an effort (to the point of nausea) and I'm not even waking up hungry.

Just realised it's probably the GABA I started taking two weeks ago to help me sleep :/

I take Gaba and ZMA for sleep.

I wake up, and have coffee, preworkout and shake... hit the gym feeling nauseas from the food, after about 20min it goes away, after gym, another shake, then get to the office and have breakfast, you get used to it.

Nothing wrong with going wider than shoulder width on the bench press.

The most common problem people encounter that go really heavy...and wide on their grip is the added pressure it puts on your joints and ligaments at an extreme wide angle.

@Random - how big is your breakfast? Could be you packing it in a bit heavy for breakfast. Maybe make the breakfast a little lighter and increase the pre and post workout meals?

Agree with this. I think the idea of eating more frequently is to eat smaller meals at the same time. Bloating your stomach has other issues that become obvious as you get older.

Good to hear this - I struggle in the mornings. Tell us more about the Gaba and ZMA. Does it help you with insomnia? What is it actually? I generally don't like to eat before workout, but I think in future I might just take a pre-workout shake 30 mins before.

Any tips on increasing appetite? Started eating oats for breakfast with some raisins and honey and cinnamon and don't get hungry till 2pm...

Vitamin B. Chemists sell the 'bulk' vit B tabs cheap - really cheap. Vitamin B makes you hungry. Beer does that too - I have a friend who used to (and I don't recommend this), down 5 pints at the pub before going to work out lol. He is close to 150Kg and lean though. He had to quit cos he was an alchie. He's pretty fit now in his 50s.

So suck it up I guess. End up having post workout shake at 20:00 (40g whey and 60g dextrose), then taking 45 minutes to eat supper at 22:30 cause I'm just not hungry.

@Orihalcon - breakfast is 20g whey, followed by half a cup of oats with milk, a squeeze of honey and a small handful of raisins. It's around 300kcal (100 kcal more than I had before), with daily goal at 3200 kcal.

I'm taking spirulina tablets for this, but just looked up how much it has in comparison to RDA and it's only 10%. Did not realise how low it was, thanks!

That breakfast sounds pretty standard. I'm doing 40g uncooked oats with a double whey serving shake and by 10 I am pretty damn hungry...well no one is the same. Considering what time you hit the sack getting up earlier to do a run or jog is outa the question as you need sleep to build and regenerate.

Don't make your routine unpleasant for you - that's the easiest way to bail. Better to tweak it. Keep trying till you find the magic spot.

GABA has all sorts of claims, but I find it just helps me fall asleep faster, and I sleep deeper.

I struggle to sleep, I probably only do about 5-6 hours of sleep a night, I find taking GABA I fall asleep within 10-15min of hitting the bed.

That's awesome, I must give it a go - any side effects? How about someone not wanting to put on weight (thinking of my wife)? I should really google :)

You''l get used to it - My food in the first 3-4 hours of being awake:
1 cup coffee
1/2 cup preworkout
1 shake consisting of 1/3 cup whey, 1/3 cup oats, 1tbsp raisins

then after workout
1 shake consisting of 1/3 cup whey, 1/2 cup oats, 40g dextrose

then when I get to work
1 cup coffee
10 egg whites, 1/2 bottle salsa, 1/3 cup cheese

The above changes slightly depending on which week I'm on... sometimes a little more, sometimes a little less - but you do get used to the food quantity.

My wife takes it... they claim some sort of impossible muscle building qualities, but its BS.

The side effects most commonly experienced are warm/tingly feeling all over, and you have vivid dreams.

What I'm also doing now, which helps with stiffness (and I suffer from this badly on heavy days) - is also have a epson salt bath before bed for 30min... now my I sleep really well, and have insane dreams :p I've found this helps with my recovery, instead of being sore for 3-4 days, I'm sore for 2 days. Maybe a placebo effect, but as long as it works.

Yeah, so much hype on the ingredients... the more lumo and metallic the packaging, the better it works I believe :D
Vivid dreams lol... sounds like the old quinine based malaria meds. I'll give it a try and see - as long as I get proper

I agree - placebo or not, sometimes I take suppliments just to motivate myself - you pay so much for the stuff lol.

According to the scientific community out there GABA is produced soley in the brain. It's "claimed" properties for athletes and bodybuilders include increased HGH and anabolic properties...This I take with a pinch (read wheelbarrow) of salt.

However. What every piece of text on this substance has in common is the following;
Relief of tension, anxiety, depression, stress and promotion of general well being, and
Induces relaxation and deep sleep.

Lots of people seem to be taking and using this product just for the added properties of deep sleep - not for the claimed athletic properties.

Something I will consider using myself...thank you for mentioning it!

Increased HGH would have those properties too - hence women often get testo suppliments when being treated for depression... it's a real pick me up... Many of them swear they don't want to go back despite the moustache lol. One of the reasons I always remind myself to get into the gym.
