So does anyone own a bongalong?, or anyone ever smoked from a bongalong?
I have had mine now for about 2 years, would like to know how it compares to other bongs?
Isn't that just a (very expensive) ceramic bong?

How do you guys clean it?, I pour in boiling water and try to shake. But I see its getting lekker dirty.
I have the "potjie kos", normally put it in the freezer about 15min before smoking and it really is smooth. My issue is rather the bowl. I bought the ceramic "downey" they sell but that has proven to be rubbish (amazing the first 3 days). The aluminium one that comes with gets very dirty very fast, the hole is also a little small.

I have had quite a few bongs in my life but all of them came from the flea market. This was the first "non flea market" bong I have owned or used for that matter. So was wondering how it compares to proper expensive bongs, i'm always seeing these long glass bongs that's almost an arms length and normally the bowl pulls out??
But if you guys says the bongalong is still a proper bong I guess I will rather try cleaning this one that buying a new one.

ps. Its not that expensive comparing to proper glass bongs. When you want to put on a custom print it gets expensive, but looks flippen awesome. I would love that Rick and Morty one.
I use methylated spirits and coarse salt in mine, together with pipe cleaners and earbuds. Shake the spirits and coarse salt vigorously. The pipe cleaners and earbuds I use to clean the stem and hard-to-reach places inside the ball-portion.
I found it helps if you use something acidic as your bong water, like cranberry juice or similar, to limit the build-up in the ball-portion, which is the hardest to clean, plus it adds nice flavour to the smoke. Dry white or red wine also works lekke.

I have a 3 perc bong from bongalong - not one of the ceramic ones. Absolutely love it!
I had to google that as I had no idea what it was. It looks flippen awesome, these are the type of bongs I am referring to when I'm asking how the normal ceramic bongs compare?
But does not seem like they are selling the "3 perc bong" anymore :-(

I have the gold member as well, It's nice but not my favourite bong, I had a long black leaf bong years back that I dropped, nearly cried my eyes out.

To clean I just put boiling water with some sunlight, let it sit a bit. Then i jam a cloth inside and move it about with a stick, usually does the trick. If you really want a super clean then you can use rubbing alcohol I think it is?

I have tried bleach and sunlight with no real success :P. I'm going to try the spirits and salt tonight.

Thanks!!

Regarding Bongs

I buy a liter of acetone from a nailshop(thanks to my wife),cost around R20.

Take a tablespoon or 2 of uncooked rice and shove it in the bong with enough acetone to make it a little less than halfway up the bong(need space for agitation).Close the stem part with your finger and the top with your other hand, and then shake and swirl that thing like crazy.Melts all the crap away and then you can just soak the downstem and clean with earbud or pipe cleaner.Rinse well, leave it to dry.

*Do not do this with plastic bongs, GLASS ONLY*

I reckon if we had something liek this for bongs, it would take the headache out of it :D

This worked like a charm. Did not add rice or anything. Just acetone (probably 50ml which I had left). I was shocked to see the amount of filth that came out after a few shakes. But it's sparkling clean like day 1

Nice pricing! It goes for R56 at Mantech Electronics. Another option is isopropyl alcohol or denatured ethanol, which are both priced slightly more than the acetone @ mantech.

Acetone is pretty rough, requires you to do some propper rinsing to clear it. Ethanol is much better in this regard, but does cost more. Rice helps agitate the gunk inside.

You must check out the bongalong bongs, my favourite. Love my Potjie bong.

How does the potjie compare to other bongs that you've owned? I'm looking at expanding my collection and the potjie looks like the perfect fit.

Best Ive ever used. Ive been through a few, tall glass bongs, short glass bongs, acrylic and even aluminium. The potjie is easy to clean, has a short neck so smoking it is easy (prefer short necks and quick hits) and feels quite stable. It can tip over though, if knocked, but is made fairly solidly. The ceramic helps with cleaning for sure, and just looks aesthetically pleasing.

I hate cleaning bongs, I even bought one of those glass joint spiral thingy's but that gets dirty quickly and sometimes can burn you, not lekka holding a piece of hot glass between your fingers and lips.

Check out that potjie bong... wide short neck and big bowl for easy cleaning. The ceramic doesnt get hot either.

I use a little glass pipe as my goto smoking device. I do joints socially, but not personally as these ultimately leave you smelling like a stompie and leaves a ton of smoke. Small little glass pipe, quick one hit. No smoke, little smell and easy to clean with some hot water.

That's exactly what I have and what I cleaned yesterday :P

The nice thing about it is that it stays clean for pretty long if you only rinse it with very hot water after each use.

Is Trichoma a real place do they send you what you ordered or a scam?
Need place to buy .

So what do most people here prefer, Joints or bongs, and why?
My fav is bongs, its much quicker than joints and I use much less herb. I still have to take about 6 small bowls (which is about the same amount of herb i use in 1 joint), but It still tastes better than joints, less smoke, less smell.

Joints is a different high for me, I normally smoke 2 joints and even then i'm not as stoned as with a bong (baring in mind i'm also using about half the herb in a bong). Joints takes a little longer to kick in, and it also lasts a little longer which is a plus. The down side for me is that joints really taste k@k. It starts okay but after about halfway it really starts tasting bad. It also smells terrible. Till today I still struggle to role a proper joint. Sometimes it comes out nice, other times it look like something a 3 year old made.

I used to smoke just bongs in my earlier days, and I moved from these to joints about 10 years ago. Reasons being is that I was using more weed when bonging, compared to joints/pipes.

I found a bong gets my high quickly, can waste a ton of weed when you pack big bowls. Ultimately the pull through has unburnt weed which goes to waste and with bongs, I always felt I needed to get a bigger hit each time, for the same effect. Built up a tolerance real quick, and when playing computer games, a bong high wares off faster than a joint high, for me anyway. So I would end up packing more bongs than I should have, and lead to me sometimes having a tight chest. Stopping bongs solved this for me, and not having a bong around or the smell of a bong, makes my wife happy.

I prefer a longer, more heady high, which I get from joints. Slower onset, and longer lasting, compared to a hard onset, with shorter high.

I prefer the taste and smell of joints actually, and find the opposite with bongs, especially if it hasnt been cleaned properly (which comes with effort). Little glass pipes from a tobacconist are my favourite, go through 2 a month cause Im fairly careless and end up dropping them.

Try vaping, i.e. get a device that heats the bud to THC release point without burning the leaf. So smooth & tasty in comparison to burning stuff..
