I can drive safely if I am high to a point that I cannot recognise that I am stoned - not sure if that makes sense. If I am proper stoned I find driving very difficult in that I am short of being overcome by paranoia and anxiety; cars, especially those on the other side of single-lane road, feel very close, as does the curb. As such I avoid driving, even as a passenger with someone sober, when freshly stoned, treating it the same way I would when consuming alcohol.
I would rather take my stash with if we go somewhere and get high at the destination, waiting until I feel sober enough to be relaxed before driving back or elsewhere.
Perhaps most cannabis consumers have the same opinion because it's hardly heard of people getting taken in by police for driving under the influence of cannabis.
It's also good to know that you still have the ability to drive if you really have to, as you and KT-B have indicated.

There are loads of books on torrent sites, lots of free e-books all saying the same stuff. You will find better information on the cannabis forums like icmag and on YouTube. I'm not sure what you want to grow or what your circumstances are but below are some of the steps I follow.
Growing in soil or pots. Soil if you are more experienced as the soil needs to be balanced or else you will get nutrient deficiencies which you then need to treat. Much easier to grow in pots with a neutral soil medium and to give the nutrients with the watering of the plant. You don't want to use garden soil or potting soil, you want to spend some money on soil, soil than can retain a lot of moisture. Try and prepare the soil beforehand, for outdoor in soil you need to prepare before the winter already as you want bacteria and mycelium to be established already once you plant. Growing in soil also gives you very big plants depending on what type of seeds you have.
I go through three different sized pots and transplant it to a bigger pot once it is time. The final and biggest pot is a 25 litre plastic drum. Due to the small size you will get bonsai type plants that wont grow over a metre. You can do different things to determine the shape of the plant like splitting the stems to double the amount of colas on the plant or you can leave it and get a traditional Christmas tree shape with one big cola. You want to be in the final size pot just before flowering, flowering will easily add a third to half of growth onto the plant.
For feeding I use seaweed/kelp mixture during vegetation with watering, for flowering you get a different mixture bloom nutrient. I also use worm castings and worm tea biweekly. Stop feeding a week before you plan to harvest and flush with water only for the last week. Knowing when to harvest you need a handheld microscope to check those trichomes, it will go from milky to amber, each one has it's own effect. Drying and curing is another five to six weeks.
Outdoor has some disadvantages namely male pollen and it hits me every year. I'm trying growing in a greenhouse this year and will see how it goes.
Strain selection and genetics is also very important, I myself favour the Kush broadleaf line mixed with our "Swazi" off breads. You can buy some good genetics or explore the local variety. You also need to learn about terpenes as this will help you describe/classify your weed a lot better and give characteristic once you decide to develop your own strain. Local strains also has a much longer flowering stage than overseas varieties. Short flowering time is great if you're indoor giving you two to three harvests compared to one outdoor and if you need consistent weed every time but outdoor is a lot more variety and quantity.
YouTube really has some good gems on it, look for Kevin from Wonderland Nurseries, lot's of knowledge and history. Reddit also has a very active community.
The above method gets me between 300 - 500 grams per plant depending on strain and grow method. September/October looking at 10 to 12 plants in soil under greenhouse and a couple on the farm. Hopefully we have some new laws come harvest time.

My tips - minimal effort approach:
Start in a Jiffy to small pot to drilled 25l bucket with good soil - e.g. Freedom farms. You don't need to go crazy on feeding - Seagro and Nitrosol during flowering is fine.
Get a strain which is mold resistant and doesn't smell (neighbours). Critical jack works well, but gets huge. if you need to keep it under 2m, train it early and often by anchoring branches to the bucket.
Keep to 1 or 2 plants - you may regret the effort, yield and required space and water for more plants.
Ideal spot would be outside with 50%-80% sun or in a greenhouse with good ventilation to prevent mold.
If outside, keep in mind that dirt will stick to the flowers and you may get aphids - but can be ignored.
Ideally you want to start so that flowering completes when the summer days have shortened enough to prevent reflowering.
It's also easier to keep the plant healthy for a shorter lifespan.
At a guess, seeds should be started in mid-September earliest.

You may end up with a renewed hate for Cape Town wind.
Even if the buckets are anchored well, the plant will take damage on the worst days unless you move it to safer spots.

Main issues with outdoor for me have been mold, wind and hail. If possible make a shelter for your plants with some bird netting/low shade shade cloth.
Also found best time to plant is beginning of the year, had issues before planting earlier where plants start flowering then go back to veg.

That would be much better..or if you're really impatient you'd have to cover the plant every late afternoon. I'll wait until it's legal..Can't deal with moving 2m plants in buckets around with uninvited guests popping over all the time.

For me, 2 is the sweet spot. Maybe 2.5 (will verify 2.5 over the weekend).

1 from greenhash is fine for me, or 2 to get really stoned. I don't find much benefit going above 2. Interested to try green phoenix because the munchies from greenhash are almost uncontrollable for me :crylaugh:
Looks like green phoenix you can select various strengths. Previously it came standard. They're huge chocolate chips cookies in a batch of a dozen. Limit was one and a half but don't often get stoned, maybe a couple times every few months. The cookies do freeze nicely, like bread, only needs a bit of thawing.
