News bulletin from Frogfoot:

We’re finally able to move from the Planning phase to the Build phase on the Constantia FTTH project. We know we’ve been a bit quiet, but certainly not idle! Behind the scenes (and in some cases, down dark holes) staff have been working very long days to get the planning of the network finalised, and negotiating with the authorities to move the wayleave process forward. A new set of maps have been uploaded to the ConstantiaFibre.com portal; current planning now indicates that the first houses will have fibre running past them as from the 4th of September 2015. Silverhurst Estate should commence within the next few weeks.
If you’ve built a house, you’ll know that it can take an excruciatingly long time to get the plans and approvals done. Scale that up to suburb size and you’ll have an inkling of some of the challenges we face. While the process of using drains and sewers for optic fibre cables is old hat to Link Africa, it is foreign to those in charge of drains and sewers. Challenges have presented themselves and been overcome; some (approvals from Roads, Water and Sanitation, Water Works) are yet to be overcome. We’re making progress though and hope to make up some time as Build momentum grows. The City agreed this week to fast track Build wayleaves so civils work can commence. If, and we certainly hope this is not necessary, we have to revise target dates for each Zone again, these will be published on the map.
We can’t wait. We can only imagine how impatient the residents of Constantia are!

I live right next to Silverhurst, so I can only assume my date range still applies.
