Jack, the executive summary of that appears to be that the CoCT has progressed with a single step (determining the access costs) and everything else is pending (the service level agreement, the details on the public participation process etc)

I don't live in Constantia, but I do want to say good work everyone.

You're making it easier for the rest of us to follow in suit, plus kicking Telkom in the ass and getting them moving in the right direction in the process.

Kudos!

Good to know.

More news - it appears that Bergvliet, Meadowridge and Hout Bay will also be receiving FTTH via Frogfoot and Vox Telecom!

I guess the delays are a massive frustration and disappointment, but there is a general move forward, a couple of baby steps, which is great.

So close!

Just just include up to BlueRoute please!

Meadowridge and bergvliet are the next two that they are definitely doing after Constantia. Not sure about Hout Bay timeline yet.

All suburbs in the valley are currently being consulted by Frogfoot afaik, so who knows?

the only way to get telkom to do anything is to give them competition

Omf, I'm basically covered by Telkom FTTH now. About 50m away.

I wonder if MWEB capped bandwidth runs on Telkom FTTH...

50m outside of the planned area? Tough luck. My neighbour has it installed. Telkom gave me some bull**** on how it would take 6 months to become "live" for me let alone installing it.

I've spoken to a contact at Telkom, seems I may be in luck because I'm 'on the right side of the road'. They've forwarded my details and request on to Planning.

Yes, I can send you screenshots on how that pans out if you want. I went far and beyond from just talking to TelkomZA reps. I eventually spoke to the fiber head manager for Telkom, and he gave me the 6 months story. If they include you in the current planned area then idk. You will most likely get planned after the current Constantia area rollout - This will probably take a year and another half a year to get installed.

So it looks like telkom fibre will be live in constantia before the constantia fibre project goes live

First houses go live before the end of the year (November I think).

Telkom are going to have to act fast! I have seen them speeding up now that the delays have happened. Competition is good.

Definitely wouldn't choose Telkom though. Long contracts, expensive... the usual incumbent issues.
