Dodge//SRT is flexing its muscle and doubling down on its commitment to drag racing, introducing the new 2020 Dodge Challenger SRT Super Stock, the world's quickest and most powerful muscle car.
"I swore that we'd never build another Demon and we won't," said Tim Kuniskis, Global Head of Alfa Romeo and Head of Passenger Cars - Dodge, SRT, Chrysler and FIAT, FCA - North America. "But I also said that every Challenger Hellcat and Redeye comes with an unspoken commitment to uphold the brand and the new Challenger SRT Super Stock is engineered to do just that."
The drag-racing, quarter-mile-crushing spirit of the limited-production 2018 Dodge Challenger SRT Demon lives on through the 2020 Challenger SRT Super Stock, which is powered by the same supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® high-output V-8 engine that also currently powers the Challenger SRT Hellcat Redeye, paired with the TorqueFlite 8HP90 eight-speed automatic transmission.
Featuring a revised powertrain calibration that increases the shift point from 6,300 rpm to 6,400 rpm, the Challenger SRT Super Stock delivers a power output of 807 horsepower on pump gas, a 10-horsepower boost over the standard SRT Hellcat Redeye, and 707 lb.-ft. of torque.
In addition to the new powertrain calibration, the Challenger SRT Super Stock is built on a standard Widebody and features a new suspension, standard Brembo brakes, and a wheel and drag radial combination designed to give customers better hook off the line.

Dodge, America's performance brand, continues to push the limits of the world's only four-door muscle car, introducing the new 797-horsepower 2021 Dodge Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye - the most powerful sedan and fastest mass-produced sedan in the world.
To put that nearly 800 horsepower to the pavement, the new Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye boasts a Widebody exterior with integrated fender flares that add 3.5 inches of body width. The new 20-inch-by-11-inch Lightweight Carbon Black wheels ride on Pirelli 305/35ZR20 tires, which give the Charger SRT Hellcat Redeye more tire tread where the rubber meets the road. A newly designed, functional performance hood on both Charger SRT Hellcat models gives this four-door sedan an even more sinister look.

Today Dodge trotted out the inevitable 710-horsepower 2021 Durango Hellcat, 797-HP Charger Hellcat Redeye sedan, and an 807 HP Challenger called the Super Stock that effectively replaces the Demon. The 2021 Durango R/T also got some revisions. Neat, I guess!
You can watch Dodge’s 25-minute launch event video on YouTube if you’re so inclined, but here are three choice lines the hypeman recited that summarize where the automaker’s at:
“It’s amazing what you can cook when you stick to the recipe.”

“This is what you can do when you set out to do one thing incredibly well.”
Welp, we certainly can’t criticize Dodge SRT for a lack of self-awareness! If it’s determined to be the outfit that just puts huge supercharged V8s in everything, I mean, I’m good with that. The Challenger’s still one of my favorite new cars, in spite of and because of how unapologetically anachronistic it is.

Despite being a relatively small market, South Africa still has a very decent selection of performance cars, but there are still a lot of exciting options available globally that don’t reach our shores, usually because they’re left-hand-drive only.
But which of these cars would we really love to see in South Africa? Below is a list of our favourite ‘forbidden fruit’ performance cars. You might notice a lack of truly exotic machines in this list, but we purposely sought to include real-world cars of the kind that would sell in reasonable volumes if they ever came our way.

The concept of buying a ‘crate’ engine has long been the solution for those who seek more power, with all the convenience of a manufacturer warranty and stable supply chain of parts.
If you have an outrageous project car idea and want a ludicrously powerful V8 engine to complete it, Chrysler is now offering a choice solution.
The company’s 6.2-litre supercharged V8 engine is now available as a ‘crate’ purchase. For R330 000 (estimated) Chrysler will ship you a Redeye specification 6.2-litre V8, boosting 602 kW and 971 Nm.
As part of the deal, you will receive a supercharger, throttle bodies, injectors, coil packs, water pump and front sump pan. Chrysler is also offering a range of attachment parts to go with the Redeye V8 deal: a flywheel, all power and alternator ancillaries, drivetrain attachment bits and mounting hardware.

Dodge CEO Rings Death Knell For The Hellcat V8
As the automotive world continues its slow pivot to electric vehicles, the future prospects for big, high-powered internal combustion engines have been growing slimmer. But instead of mourning the loss of what’s been one of the company’s most successful marketing measures, Dodge CEO Tim Kuniskis doesn’t sound at all concerned that the Hellcat V8 is a dying breed.
“The days of an iron block supercharged 6.2-liter V-8 are numbered,” Kuniskis told CNBC during a recent video interview. “They’re absolutely numbered because of all the compliance costs. But the performance that those vehicles generate is not numbered.”
It’s that last part that’s the most fascinating: the Hellcat’s days are numbered, not because consumers don’t want them, but it’ll come down to those engines being regulated out of existence.
In fact, Kuniskis notes that the Hellcat has gone above and beyond expectations.
“What Hellcat has done is way beyond what our initial expectations were because it’s way beyond what a traditional, very high-end trim does,” Kuniskis said. “In the last five years or so, we’ve sold well over 50,000 Hellcats. That’s a lot of Hellcats in five years if you think about you know the price point of that car.”

YOUTUBER FITS CART WHEELS TO A DODGE CHALLENGER SRT HELLCAT
American YouTuber WhistlinDiesel has just released a video where he buys a Dodge Challenger SRT Hellcat and fits it with old wheels you would find with a horse and cart.
He did this because he can and then proceeds to drive through his local town to shock the residents and shoppers. He didn't choose the best day however, as it was snowy. In the words of Jeremy Clarkson: "what could possibly go wrong?"
The wheels themselves are made of aluminium with rubber around the outside to give them some sort of grip when accelerating. Becasue don't forget, the Challenger Hellcat produces over 700hp from a 6.2L HEMI V8, so you don't want to floor it on wheels the width of a finger.
