The Droid TV thread

:D

I think you deserve a DroidTV discount for all the laughs!
But im going to take Jvans xtreamer off him, and focus on a Droid box early next year Jaque.

I know I asked Jvan this, but Jaque would any of your remotes work on an Xtreamer Prodigy? If it does, can I have a Droid remote discount instead? Lol

@Icemanbrfc: This is what you are going to be missing out on - full reviews of the MXQ S85 should be out in the next few days. It looks like a very nice machine ...

Here are some videos of a very similar Amlogic quad core S805 based machine the EM6Q-MXQ. You can even operate the MXQ using a standard mouse if you are on a tight budget as you can see in the last video. You can always get an air mouse/keyboard at a later stage.

Noted Yotch, but right now 80 to 85% of my needs will be plug in hard drive, the others a bit of streaming. As said, for now I'm just going for a short term solution, and will look later on to grab one of these Droid boxes from Av Supply,

Howdy.

I run Control4 at home and would need to create an IR driver for this. Does your unit have discreet codes (especially on/off) and if so where could I get them from?

Regards

Which unit exactly?

@getafix33:

Here are the results from the KeyTest android app for the IR remote.
Power button: KEYCODE_UNKNOWN Keycode 0 ScanCode 704
Dpad Down: KEYCODE_DPAD_DOWN Keycode 20 ScanCode 108 (0x6C)
OK button: KEYCODE_DPAD_CENTER Keycode 23 ScanCode 97 (0x61)

These are the results for the T2 RF air mouse.
Power button: KEYCODE_POWER Keycode 26 and ScanCode 116 (0x74)
It may not be possible to resume via the RF power button. I'll investigate further.

EDIT:
Here is the remote.conf file for the IR remote for the MXIII.
https://www.sendspace.com/file/sy5iau

The remote uses the NEC IR protocol as explained over at Freaktab (see links below). The codes should be in the following format - 0xXXYYZZZZ where XX is the logical inverse of the scancode, YY is the scancode, ZZZZ is the factory code which is 7f80 for the MXIII. The code should be 0x9e617f80 for the Dpad Center button and 0x936c7f80 for the Dpad Down button etc. You should be able to program your Control4 IR transmitter to output the correct codes to control the MXIII.

This link explains the IR protocol used in Amlogic media players.

This document explains how to use a Harmony IR remote to control an M8 media player.

Nice find, but the S805 will be slower IMHO than S802. Like the idea of gigabit LAN. Will skip 4K for now. Let's hope after sales support will be good as it's often abandoned by the developers. Budget wise I agree it could be cheaper than the current S802 offerings but it will take a lot for me to buy a new unit.

So the MXIII arrived in record time - thanx:D

No how do I get Netflix going?
Currently works on my sammy tv with unotelly :wtf:

Keep getting this message " Please make sure device has network connectivity and Date and time settings are accurate"

Network ? Check - can login to facebook
Date & time - check - changed to appropriate date and time.

What am I missing?

Download Unotelly from Google Playstore and login with your registered email.
Open up the app and select update IP adress.
Launch Netflix and you should up and running.

Ok thx. Got the Unotelly App, could log in - looked like a browser session though.
Then suddenly it just kicked me off :(

Urgh!!

I don't think Unotelly is the problem. Netflix works on his Samsung TV.

Perhaps try uninstall the Netflix app and re-install it. You will have to sideload the app. I'm sure Yotch has the url for the Netflix apk.

@Fransh: I think that a 3TB drive should work with any of the DroidTV MXIII machines - just check with AVSupply. If it doesn't work automatically you might have to install the Paragon NTFS app as you can see from this thread. The Minix Neo X8-H is very similar to the MXIII. The MXIII comes rooted.

Thanks, would the 1gb version be good enough to play HD content on 40inch samsung?
I don't want to system to get slow quickly.

Hi Fransh

There is no performance difference between the 1GB and 2GB models. 1GB of RAM is more than enough for smooth HD media playback. 2GB would be the better choice for 3D intensive gaming
